A film about two young male friends in subarban America in the early 90s, a terrible event changes their friendship is the basic premise
A flawed affair but Phillips eye for cinematography is outstanding it must be said, one of the most visually brilliant films since under the skin for my money - there are also some fantastic performances from one of the young leads and the lady who plays his mother most notably
There may be an accusation of style over substance here, however, Overall it felt a little bit cliched and someone overly critical might associate it with riding the stranger things nostalgia coattails.
All of that said I recommend it highly - it's a little bit visceral in places but it is a fantastic looking film
