Is that a Sutton Coldfield pun? I didn't think anyone outside of suburban north Birmingham knew about it so it's a niche reference.

Norton Canes

It was that or Deadly Sutton

Uncle TechTip

He's not even from Sutton Cold Field.

Nobody is. Some of my family and the remains of Arthur Lowe are the only things worth seeing in the place.

I'm appalled the local council just leaves his remains out in the open

In a graveyard, in fairness to them. I wouldn't know, I've never checked.

I'm sorry I could have broken this news more sensitively. John Cunliffe, who created Rosie and Jim, and Postman Pat, has died.

Geoffrey Hayes, best known for being the human in Rainbow alongside a gay hippo, a camp bear and a posessed gimp outfit has died aged 76.

I used to work for Geoffrey when he was provisions manager at Sainsbury's in Staines.  Now he'll never find out it was I who used to nick the eclairs on Saturday and eat them behind the baling machine.

I didn't know he was still alive. Was listening to him the other day. Some voice.

Ah, fuck no!

No, I'm not having that last one. Death can bring him back, right now.

Gulftastic

Ah bollocks. He was a master of his craft. His Dredd and Strontium Dog stuff was epic.

mothman

But not that good at chins.

Nowhere Man

Charles Aznavour, the co-creator of Judge Dredd and the presenter of Rainbow in one day? Blimey thats quite a varied lineup.

mothman

Can't be many comparable. Huxley, Eliot and Kennedy, perhaps?

I was never a fan of his art but he was the first artist to draw Dredd I think, so nuff said.  That being said he held the pen for some of the best Dredd stuff; the Necropolis Mega Epic, so basically some of the best comic ever made.

He also like outlining his characters in big black chunky rectangle things, which really annoyed me.

mothman

Anatomy definitely wasn't his strong point, but in conveying action and emotion, peerless.

#206
Charles Aznavour is my 4th hit not here, but in my Derby Dead Pool theme team of UK #1 hitmakers (after Aretha Franklin, Ray Thomas from the Moody Blues, and Abi Ofarim from Esther and Abi Ofarim). A surprise death as far as 94-year-olds go – he was still performing and healthy by all accounts. I resented "having" to put him on my team, because as the oldest living male #1-haver, he was on there effectively by default regardless of his condition. Who'd have thought Charles Aznavour would be outlived by Lil Wayne and Peter Kay?
