This is a reverse of the usual question you'd expect to hear about identifying a song. I've been listening to Pop by Gas a lot lately, and have realised that the third track is familiar from either Blue Jame or Jam, but I can't remember which sketch. Here is the track: https://youtu.be/pt-bfSTP5DE Does anyone have any idea where I heard this?

Also, listen to this album because it's brilliant and feel free to use this thread for similar queries.

It turns out the Gas album was released in 2000, so it pretty much has to be from the TV series Jam (either that or a false memory).

Here Comes Mongo

I really like that album but I'm afraid I can't recall that track being used in those series, though it sounds highly appropriate. Was there ever anything by Boards of Canada used in Blue Jam? I'm not sure it was, though again, I think BoC would suit the mood of the show very well.

Boards of Canada's 'Wildlife Analysis' was well used to complement the mood of the blue jam s2e6 sketch about the amazing green object in the sky:

Am I correct in recollecting that Boards of Canada also had some involvement with the blue jam CD?

Thinking about it, I genuinely think I've made this up; the album was released just after Jam started on the TV, so it does seem doubtful.

I was convinced 'An Eagle in Your Mind' was in the intro to each episode but I have no idea now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xscAelG-D5Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf66Lmrqk00

A very similar track to this is used over the Mr. Bentham sketch in S02E03. (It might be the same track, but I'm having trouble finding a music guide to confirm this.)

As you say the album was released in 2000, but it's not impossible that it's the same track - radio stations often have access to pre-release demos and so on (Windowlicker by Aphex Twin was used in the last episode 25 days before it was officially released) although the 2 year gap in this case might by pushing this explanation a little bit.

Brilliant! Thanks for that - it may well be that Gas track after all then. It certainly is similar. The two year gap is a problem but I guess that's nothing to say it wasn't recorded a good while before.

The music in that sketch is Mutability (A New Beginning Is in the Offing) by David Sylvian & Holger Czukay, according to this guide.

buttgammon

Ahh! I must give that a listen; I thought all of the Gas stuff was based on classical samples (usually Wagner) but it's possible the Gas track is built around a sample of the Sylvian and Czukay one.

This is the usual question you'd expect to hear about identifying a song. Dose anyone know the title of the last two songs playing in the "My Wrongs" DVD version of the Rothko Blue Jam sketch? One of them replaced Madonna's "Ray Of Light" from the original radio broadcast version.
