What is Kodi for?

Streaming all sorts of media through yer telly, media that may or may not be legal depending on things.

The box itself is legal (a bit like owning a bong you can technically argue you can use it for legal stuff, as you totally can) but you can install software on it that lets you very quickly access this material, almost with a similar ease to the likes of Netflix.

Even my partners elderly lesbian mothers have got it rigged up which makes me feel like I'm missed 10 years of my life.

Thanks for this. Python scriptable too, very nice.

Oh sure now we're bestie mates.

I have no idea about any of the advanced features like scripting or animation. To me Krita is basically the digital version of one of those Crayola briefcases and that's all I really want from an art program.

Never got one as a kid. In many ways it was the start of my downward slope.

Bhazor

Krita v4.0 out now including totally revamped vector tools and python scripting (which I know fuck all about) but I will say it runs smoother and the new brushes look a lot better especially the texture brushes.

Zero Gravitas

(Rainmeter || Conky || BitBar)

The relatively simple idea of converting script stdout into desktop/menubar elements is great.

For the hyper nerds out there xmonad and the suckless.org tools will transform your life.

Twed

Been on that train since ratpoison. Overlapping windows are UI design's biggest mistake.

Libre Office- The successor to the now abandoned Open Office

https://www.libreoffice.org/discover/new-features/

Full compatibility with Microsoft Office including ebooks and stable updates every couple weeks.

samadriel

Thanks for that, I was wanting something free to open my old docs and so on.

Sebastian Cobb

I know it's not free and open source but I've found google docs sufficiently good that I've not felt the need to install MS or Libre for quite some time.

I actually find the UI much more responsive and cleaner than proper office.

Openshot Video Editor

https://www.openshot.org/features/

Powerful and with a very easy to use interface. Unlike Lightworks it has no problem saving at 1080 or 4k. Widely compatible with all types of video and has built in audio editing.

Zotero - reference/paper/etc. library manager and notebook - looks pretty good so far. (The online sync stuff isn't Free, although it does seem to be free.)

Does anyone want to tell me otherwise, before it's too late?
