Yeah, that really invalidates the point I made about the massively different relative attitudes to the two things because you googled an example of someone mentioning it.

I suppose if you don't bother to actually check these things you will see a 'massively different relative attitude'.

And do dig around yourself, it's not hard to find people 'making a peep' about the Yemen thing.

Trumps war games statement was just him having one of his occasional moments of clarity off script that no other politician would ever say. Not going to happe, at least in the near future but the great thing about him saying something like that is it exposes the entire US political and media eddtablishment as more right wing than Donald fucking Trump on foreign policy and as the shameless warmongering whores they are. Ever since he got in the most consistent complaint from liberals and the 'resistance' about his foreign policy is it isn't aggressive or strident enough, thats how mad it is. I mean the US helped SA commit another war crime in Yemen yesterday and not a peep from them, whilst theyvwhinge and moan about a peace conference, they have absolutely lost the plot.

There's a front page story in NYT today about Yemen, if that counts as a peep.

It's all relative though, really. Lots of people oppose Assad's war crimes in Syria, which I guess makes you the more right-wing warmongering whore on that particular issue.

(To clarify, I don't actually disagree with biggy's superficial point about the media being incompetent and pro-war, I just find it hypocritical to act morally righteous while being a crypto Trump supporter)

Isn't Trump just carrying on Obama's policy in Yemen? So when Scott Dworkin says

Quote
Apparently America is now openly committing war crimes under the Trump regime in Yemen. This is appalling.

I  would be interested to know what he was saying when his bloke was in power, doing the same things. Hopefully he opposed it.

WTF is this!?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYsaC2CADs0
Quote
Reporters were shown a video ahead of Donald Trump's press conference in Singapore, which the US president said he had played it to Kim Jong-un and his aides toward the end of their talks. It was made by Destiny Productions and was presented in Korean and English in the style of an action movie trailer

That's either a stroke of genius, playing with Kim's taste in films, or just a stoke.

Well of course all American presidents cosy up with tyrants all the time when it suits them. You could argue this North Korea stunt is purely that, and that actually supporting cunts like Pinochet was far worse. Everything he does is just hot air.

What's your deal with Shelia Hancock. She is an unfunny cunt, if probably not a cunt. Nicholas Parsons is just a cunt though.

I discovered the other day why his suits look so fucking terrible in spite of how much money he has to spend on them. Apparently he always orders the most expensive material he can for a suit in spite of it being too flimsy to make a suit for a fat man from, hence the rumpled flappy look that he always has.

It's dumb though isn't it. He's diffused a crisis he created and given North Korea exactly the validation they want for precisely nothing in return.

At least when US presidents cosy up to Saudi Arabia they get oil for it. Or when Theresa May goes there she gets lovely big weapons deals for BAE which secures British jobs. Nixon went to China and eventually opened it up as a market.

This has been realpolitik for idiots.

Give arms to the Saudis and they attack Yemen with it though. This doesn't make a difference to anything. North Korea still oppresses its people because it's a paranoid state propped up by China, a legacy of American belligerence against the Soviets.

I do think Trump's legacy will be nothing - good or bad - because he's doing fucking nothing of any consequence. As long as we don't get another narcissistic reality-TV trained idiot in charge of a superpower, I doubt anyone will rise to his garbage.

Maybe he is better that Clinton would have done actual things, not just withdrawing from things and shaking hands, and they may have turned out to have bad consequences? He's just treading water. Oh, he made petrol go up above 120p/litre. So fuck him there.

If I can clarify: I'm an idiot
I know nothing
I wish I was dead.

Paul Manafort taken into custody after having been judged to have violated his bail conditions.

Quote
Prosecutors alleged that Manafort sought to tamper with witnesses in his case by contacting them and attempting to coordinate testimony. Manafort is said to have told witnesses their work together to influence European politicians on behalf of Ukraine was restricted to Europe and did not happen in the US.

Elsewhere, Trump continues winning his trade wars with ease.

Quote
US President Donald Trump is to impose 25% tariffs on $50bn worth of Chinese goods, accusing Beijing of intellectual copyright theft.

Tariffs that affect more than 800 products worth $34bn in annual trade are due to come into effect on 6 July.

The White House said it would consult on tariffs on the other $16bn of products, and would apply these later.

If China retaliates, as it has already pledged to do, the US will impose even more tariffs, Mr Trump warned.
