I have to admit I've not heard of these two before.

QuoteChortle understands James Acaster is lined up for a future series.

Fantastic.

I have to admit I've not heard of these two before.

Levine is a TV presenter and Radio 1 DJ who was on QI last month.

Chaudhry was in People Just Do Nothing and Hoff the Record.

AsparagusTrevor

I hadn't heard of those two either, thanks.

I must admit at first glance I'm not mad on the lineup but I will reserve judgement til it's aired when I'm sure it will be brilliant like the others.

I'm really glad it's got at least another four series lined up.

RedRevolver

Wasn't keen until I realised who Asim is, then it balanced out. Asim, pretty fucking funny, Liza Tarbuck and Russell will be fun, Alice Levine isn't a comedian (imo), rather, a friend to comedians and from experience is woefully lacking in being autonomously funny.

Tim Vine is an odd man, how much fun he turns out to be in this setup is but a mystery.

Bogbrainedmurphy

Chuffin brilliant!

So perhaps 4 more series then a Champion Of Champions thing with the 4 winners plus Widdicombe?

Seagullsim

Alice Levine has got quite a lot of publicity from the My Dad Wrote A Porno podcast - I imagine she'll be the 'likeable but dim' one in the series. Not overly excited about the others - Tim Vine becomes tiresome quickly, and I only know Asim from his character. Russell Howard should be good though.

vainsharpdad

Uninspired by that cast.

Keen to see Acaster - I'd also quite like to see Richard Herring on this.
Trying to think who else might be good without going down the obvious David Mitchell-style route.

Jenny Eclair?  Jack Dee? Ross Noble?

(I wonder how long until the inevitable arrival of Shappi Khorsandi ?)

Also - I still want them to do a losers of losers edition to balance out the champions of champions.

biggytitbo

Give Eddie Large a crack at it please.

Seagullsim

Sofie Hagen could be great on this, as could John Robins. I'd personally like to see Jason Manford or David Baddiel too - they could add something to the group.

If they're starting to use comic actors as well as comedians, Stephen Merchant, Nick Frost, Sharon Horgan, Ruth Jones, or Rhod Gilbert would be fantastic.

BeardFaceMan

Two people I like, two people I've never heard of and one I dislike. I'll take those odds, should be a good series. I think the format is strong enough overcome one or two dodgy guests and still be an overall enjoyable show.

imitationleather

I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but cuck is not up like it was when I saw the s5 line-up. A few names on this new one I'm extremely wary of.

An appalling line-up kills this show stone dead. I've still never made it to the end of s4 as there's just far too many people on there who really are not funny at all.

Very pleased we're getting four more runs of this, anyway. Can't wait for the James Acaster one!

Autopsy Turvey

I just wish it had been going in the 1970s, when you could have had Viv Stanshall, Keith Moon, Peter Cook, Graham Chapman and Rita Webb.

russel howard oh no. i hate russel howard. i guess i hated noel fielding too but he was pretty much fine. but russel howard, i hate russel howard. i hate russel howard. i hate russel howard.

DrGreggles

Not too keen on Russell Howard's material, but he seems like a decent enough bloke (which is probably more important on TM).

Kind of how I feel, too. Taskmaster has a way of taking shit comedians and just letting them be themselves which usually reveals some quite charming or personal aspects to people that you previously thought were wankers.

In fact, I'd say in every series there's been someone who I've thought "Oh God not that dickhead" and they've turned out alright.

Except for Josh Widdicombe.

Yeah this, it's a great format for making comics abandon their personas. Tim Vine might be interesting. Harry Hill would be a good panellist. So would Limmy and Adam Buxton.

Hat FM

jeez. how has buckles not been on this yet?!

Re Harry Hill, and abandoning his persona... probably another thread, but I remember his Room 101 appearance (Paul Merton era?) and it was awful for this reason.

He was there, with his big collar, and the glasses, and the pens in the pocket, but all his gripes with the modern world were obviously the things which the actor Matthew Hall didn't like. The reason why became obvious in the shots which showed he was wearing ordinary brown leather shoes on his feet.

I fear 'Harry Hill' couldn't exist in Taskmaster world - we'd see far too much of the actor Matthew Hall, big collar or not.

gilbertharding

I could probably just google this, but is American Taskmaster going to be on Dave any time soon?

Yeah but that's what I want. I like how Taskmaster reveals the comics' personalities 'out of character'. From the rare interviews I've seen with Hill he seems like an interesting and sometimes quite abrasive bloke. I'd like to see him do Richard Herring's podcast too, for the same reason. (In fact I'm surprised he hasn't already, as he seems to have been mates with Lee and Herring in their early days)

I think Alex Horne said on his podcast that its been filmed, he doesnt know when its airing and he hasnt been paid yet. Of course his podcast is very silly so I may have got it wrong but there does seem to be little news about it. Maybe the pairing with Reggie Watts didnt quite work, the releationship between Greg and Alex is a big reason for the shows success.

Hat FM

imagine richard herring on it. he would probably just start talking about his carbon monoxide meter or that time he had a fight with a postman during a task.

Gwen Taylor on ITV

The time he went on HIGNFY during his Hitler moustache show and it was clearly killing him that no one was bringing it up.

Got three of these for a few days time (belated cheers for the Eventbrite link, Funke!).  Anyone remember which of the many TM threads had that guide for how early to get there etc.?  Cheers.

I love series 4, the variety of personalities and tasks works really well. Funny old world, eh?

Re: the US version, I don't like Reggie Watts at all; although I'll give it a go, hopefully the chemistry will work.

I had tickets for the last series, arrived at 6:30/45, and although we made it into the tent, we just missed getting in. They offered us priority tickets, so we can jump queue this time.

My advice would be either get there for 5:30/6:00, or go with the intention of playing a long game and getting guaranteed tickets for the next series.
