I wasn't sure before, but there is no way a government agency could stain something with tea.

I'm sure it's a semi-plausible source, but why would you present it in such a stupid way? It would be more convincing if you just typed it out and linked to the scan of the paper from 1990s.

Give it a rest anyway. I don't think anyone in this thread thinks they are going to know the "truth" of what happened in the next 25 years. The main issue is that you think you do.

No! don't listen to him.

Work yourself into a frenzy and post about it for 17hrs a day, every day for over a month again

They literally have no suspects 2 months on https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/may/01/no-suspects-yet-in-skripal-nerve-agent-attack-mps-told

QuotePolice and intelligence agencies have failed so far to identify the individual or individuals who carried out the nerve agent attack in Salisbury, the UK's national security adviser has disclosed.

The comments by Sir Mark Sedwill punctured hopes that the police and other security agencies had pinpointed suspects but were withholding the name or names from the public.

Asked by an MP at a Commons defence committee hearing if he knew the individuals responsible, he replied curtly: "Not yet."

Not, of course, because the 'suspect' doesn't exist.

Blumf

Nah, it's all true: MI5 & 6 are so incompetent that that Russian agents can waltz in and kill inconvenience with impunity.

...oh hang on, that can't be right, the official line sounds just as bad as any of the alternative 'conspiracy' theories.

What the hell are they playing at!?

BlodwynPig

A lot of people on this forum have been taken for RIGHT mugs, eh biggy

No suspect, no crime, no clue!

Really? Don't you find it a fascinating story? It's just very frustrating that some brave investigator hasn't been able to get digging at it. I live in hope.

So Sergei is finally out of hospital

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44165718

QuoteMs Skripal was released on 9 April and was moved to a secure location.

It is not known whether Mr Skripal has been taken to the same location as his daughter.

The Metropolitan Police said its investigation into the attack continued and it would not "be discussing any protective or security arrangements that are in place".

Director of nursing Lorna Wilkinson said treating the Skripals had been "a huge and unprecedented challenge".

She added: "This is an important stage in his recovery, which will now take place away from the hospital."

Russian ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko welcomed the news that Mr Skripal had been discharged, and repeated his demand for consular access to the former spy and his daughter.

At a news conference at his official residence in London, Mr Yakovenko said: "We are happy that he is all right."

The Russian ambassador has previously claimed the UK is violating international law by not granting access to the Skripals.

"If they don't want our assistance, that's fine, but we want to see them physically," he said.

sorry i dont really have much more to add to that

biggytitbo

All 3 are now black holed somewhere, no pics, no interviews, no independent 3rd party to vouch for them. I can see them keeping the skripals hidden away indefinitely, but not sure how theyre going to keep Nick Bailey from public view for much longer.

Mr_Simnock

So all 3 'victims' (I use that term in the most generous sense) are back up and out and about, bit of a shit nerve agent, did they just mix cilit bang with weed killer or something?

No point trying to make sense of that, the story changes every 5 minutes because they're making it up as they go along.

The Skripals definetly not been held captive or anything -

QuoteMeanwhile, Skripal's mother has demanded she be allowed to speak to her son.

Yelena, who has not heard from the former spy since he was poisoned, has told a relative today that she wants to speak to him.

Yelena's carer Viktoria Skripal, who has been twice refused a British visa to see him and her cousin Yulia said: 'We have just told the news to his elderly mother who has been waiting for more than two months for any word from him or Yulia,' said Viktoria.

'She is begging the hospital, or whoever now decides Sergey's freedom of movement and speech, to please allow him to call her.'

Was the daily mail i'm afraid, but here's the same story in the mirror - https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/sergei-skripals-89-year-old-12557406

The Skripals are clearly not allowed to talk to anyone, even their own family. They are essentially been held prisoner by the British state.

Haha oh dear - https://twitter.com/DavidBCollum/status/998613563680882694

This Cornell organic chemistry professor, to make a point that the Novichok formula was easy to make, apparently got his students to do it for a test -

QuoteI asserted that any credible organic chemist could make novichok nerve agents. Here is my final exam in my 1st year graduate organic synthesis course. Only one kid of 15 lost any points. Uniquely Russian technology my ass....

Alberon

It's clear that whatever went on the British press is compliently not reporting it and the rest of the world's press has probably forgotten it.

It still seems like a very strange story for the British government to cook up though. To make itself look so utterly incompetent that they can't stop foreign agents (of the Russian Government or others) from nearly killing a former spy under their protection in the UK.

Any Russian looking to sell secrets to the UK will think twice because it looks like we can't protect them.

Why would you dream up a story like that even if you wanted to frame the Russians? Even if we accept the story as completely true they come out of it looking far far better than we do.

But it will probably be many years before the full facts are out. Do we even know if the cop who fell ill is in hiding? Or is he simply back with his family being left alone by the press?

Isnt Anything

That chemistry professor thing is amazing. Expect him to be #MeToo'd or something fairly shortly.

Agreed so if the Russians didnt and we didnt then who did ?

Americans, may be rogue americans, to punish our intelligence community and or Skripal for the Steele dossier ?

Israel, to blacken russias name for Syria and to punish the Steele dossier that harms their big fan Trump ?

just two possibilities that come to mind there may well be others

afaik we have no idea at all.

biggytitbo

Whatever happened I don't think it was planned as some kind of black op in advance, it has all the hallmarks of a hasty, make it up as you go along cover up. So for now I'm sticking with the theory that Sergei was a bad boy and involved in some kind of black or quasi-black market spying activity that went wrong and had to be covered up because it would implicate the British state or subsidiaries in wrong doing, even if it was only peripherally.

Some people think the Skripals are simply participants in the whole thing (which fits some of the facts), but that would require pre-planning and you'd expect a much slicker cover story than the shambles we've had.

Some news .... Yulia has given a statement and photo through Reuters

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44230380

QuoteThe daughter of an ex-Russian spy who was poisoned in Salisbury has said she is "lucky to be alive" after the attack.

Yulia Skripal and her father, Sergei, were exposed to nerve agent Novichok in the city centre on 4 March.

In a statement with Reuters, Ms Skripal said "her life has been turned upside down" and hopes to return to Russia in the future.

Mr Skripal was discharged from hospital earlier this month.

Speaking to the news agency, Ms Skripal thanked the Russian embassy for its offer of assistance but said her and her father were "not ready to take it".

She also paid tribute to those who had treated her since the attack.

"We are so lucky to have both survived this attempted assassination. Our recovery has been slow and extremely painful."

Ms Skripal added she would be taking "one day at a time" and hoped to care for her father until he is fully recovered.

Why wouldnt she take the Russian embassys offer of assistance if she is hoping to get back to Russia in the future ?

biggytitbo

The novochik has done wonders for her, she never looked better.

In the video she essentially reads out the earlier written statement, using some of the same strange wording. She looks stiff and uncomfortable, but I guess you can't read much into that, it's what you'd expect.

The most interesting bit is where she says she would like to go back to Russia, if she really believed they'd tried to kill her would that be the case?

she looked radiant in fact.

biggytitbo

Sergei is just out of shot, been held with a syringe of Novichok against his neck.

I'd like to know if he or Yulia have been allowed to speak to their family yet, or any impartial 3rd parties, outside of stage managed press releases and statements.
