It said I wasn't allowed to do a search, and tries some manual browsing and didn't find anything, so I apologize if this has been mentioned before. I'll list my favorites in order, and if there's interest, I'll be more than happy to list more, and/or to give/receive recommendations.

I agree! I love not only making lists, but I love putting a line in the sand, and ranking those lists, even though it can be difficult.

What about directors? Or would it be more in character in this forum to list a new topic?

I'd stay out of the Doctor Who threads in the fallow periods between series, then, if I were you.

Wet Blanket

I've got loads but The Third Man, Eyes Without a Face and Blue Velvet are all up there. I think Third Man in particular is just perfect in every way as far as I'm concerned. It's everything I want from a film; eye-popping photography, hard-boiled plot, zither-based theme tune. Bleedin' marvellous

Black Hawk Down

I love that bit where he's like "We have a black hawk down! There's a black hawk down in the city".

And that bit where he's like "Fucking get on the minigun!"

Also that film 13 hours. There's that bit where he's like "Take out those fucking tacticals!"

What about that film called kill Bin Laden where he's all like "We have a bird down in the animal pen!"

In American Sniper, I love that bit where he's like "Fucking evil bitch!" after that evil bitch got shot and handed the RPG to her son who also got fucking whacked.

I'd have to say 'The Best Of Cinema'.

Welcome.  Tell us why Harry and Tonto is your favourite film of all time.

It's the writing and acting. Very universal, humanistic themes, with some amazing humor that is hard to find. It's a story of life, and all the random things that comes with life, which was only possible because he was forced out of his apartment.

I prefer lists tbh. Some interesting titles so far that I will research further. What is someone supposed to say about their favorite movie, "it's really good"?

Also, welcome to another American (or a Brit with poor spelling)

Some random stuff:

Dune
Blazing Saddles
Repo Man
Tron
Neco z Alenky (eng: Alice)
Robocop (1987, of course!)

you seen whisky galore? same sort of parochial quirkiness as IKWIG but of course with the quaint subversiveness of Ealing

both were clearly influences on local hero
