Fucking off HDMI-ARC and using an optical audio cable; tech simplifications

Ever experience the joy of getting rid of something over-engineered and nightmarish and replacing it with something simple? No more stupid HDMI-ARC handshakes failing, making the soundbar for my TV stop working at any given moment. $8 cable just that sends audio from one thing to another thing and we're golden.

A similar one I'd like to fuck off is my partner's car's climate controls. She drives a Honda Civic, and the fucker doesn't let you twist a nob that simply makes it hotter or colder. No. It wants you to set a temperature in degrees, and then it will adjust the fans and heat accordingly. You can't adjust anything precisely without going to a special screen in the in-car entertainment system. Inelegant and disgusting.

My GTI from the same year has an analogue nob for hot/cold and a corresponding one for fan intensity. That is the only correct method.
