I've only been to one CaB meet and that were over a decade ago. I can't be arsed going to London so
was wondering if an East Anglia meet there would be of any interest to anyone.

YES PAL

Don't go to the spoons though cause it's shite

pancreas

Yes. I haven't done a Cam visit for a while and have several friends.

madhair60

I live there but I still probably won't go because of the fear and that.

yup!

DrGreggles

I'm in 'The Bridge'* and I'd be up for this, as long as it's a decent pub and not full of fucking students!

*a phrase I'm trying to get to catch on

Janie Jones

Yes I'd be up for this. I'm often in Cambridge. The Spoons - the Regal - is adequate in my view although there are many better pubs off Mill Road. We can look for the blue plaque commemorating mook in the Earl of Beaconsfield.

Mr_Simnock

I love Cambridge, say where and when and I will try my bestest to make it

Wait, did mook used to drink in The Beak then? Christ, I feel honoured to have repeatedly boozed and sung in the shadow of such a spirit

The only meet I ever went to was in 2006 and ended with what can only be described as projectile vomiting at the entrance to Macdonald's in Leeds city centre, because that's what happened.

Yeah, I'm up for this.

Oi.

Sorry, hadn't forgotten, just not sure if that was technically a 'meet' in the traditional sense. Hence choosing Cam this time as presumably it's more accessible to people who don't want to venture into the the total arse end of the country.

I just need to not get a police caution at this one.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

5hrs 40 with an hour layover in Milton Keynes. No thanks. May as well have the meet in Gdansk.

MojoJojo

I'll watch the meet from behind a nearby hedge or Rory McGrath.

SpiderChrist

I live in Ely, so there's no fucking way I'm going all the way to Cambridge.

and thought this was the dating topic. God knows what the "hour layover in Milton Keynes" would entail.

Neville Chamberlain

A right old rogering up the Midsummer Boulevard, I should think!

madhair60

I'll go to the meet if everyone promises to be nice to me.

I'm guessing you've only been there in the daytime then, before it turns into a terrible club?

You're right.  Best avoided then - there's lots of good places we can go.

I've no idea how I know this, as apart from not living in Kent, mook was pretty careful with his real life identity but he must have revealed some details on CaB back in my lurking days as I understand he went to the Perse school and he knew the pubs of Romsey Town and Mill Road quite well.

You were there?

Why is everyone talking about mook in the past tense?

madhair60

pancreas

The Regal is appalling.

I like the Live and Let Live. I shall go there and skype in if necessary.

madhair60

I vote Cambridge Blue or Earl of Beaconsfield.

Fun fact: the only other Wetherspoons in Cambridge was so miserable that it went and burned itself down out of shame in 2015
