No thread for Woody Allen's latest?  It's a drama, with the only laughs being unintentional.  It has a script that starts well but gets worse and worse.  It has Justin Timberlake as the Allen avatar (he gets the worst dialogue and plays the character as if he is about to be unveiled as a psycho at any moment).  It has a far too brief appearance from Paulie Walnuts and Bobby Baccala as - of course - a pair of mafiosi.  It has some extraordinarily OTT cinematography from Vittorio Storaro with sunsets so golden they recall the eponymous syrup.  And it has a performance from Kate Winslet that is absolutely superb.  She really is a fantastic actress and here she has the strength and intensity of Anna Magnani.  Even with Winslet it is lesser Allen, but she does make it a worthwhile watch.

Funnily enough, the colours in the film were almost as cartoony.

Paulie Walnuts and Bobby Baccala peaked my interest.
