He definitely speaks with a westerner-ish Japanese accent, and uses dodgy Japanese, but I'm too shit at Japanese to tell if it's a Japanese actor trying to sound foreigner-ish.

Objectively; this is great news, as a new generation will be able to enjoy simulating a nine 'til five job, after clocking off from their nine 'til five job.

Subjectively; this is terrible news, as my original boxed Dreamcast versions will devalue in price.

What's the gameplay though, exploration, puzzles, crime solving? Im not interesting in walking around talking to random people about their washing or lost dogs.

Shenmue is better than that.  You walk around talking to random people, inquiring as to where you can find a bum boy sailor.  It's a life simulator, in that regard.

Some of the English voices in Shenmue I were laughably bad.

I rate the voice acting in Shenmue right up there with Resident Evil, in terms of legendary status.  It's so bad, it's good.

Like Resident Evil, it's full to the brim with peados in speedos too.  Which is always a plus, naturally.
