Does novelty medieval synth-pop exist outside of Safety Dance?

depends what you mean but John Maus claims there's a medieval root at the heart of his synth-pop.

Toughie.  How about some of that stuff that Varg Vikernes bashed out on a Casio when he was in prison?

Not pop and novelty enuff!!

That Maus song is good, kinda sounds like Nick Nicely when he does the spacey thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqJpSwii0hE

Ignoring the word novelty, there's this Japanese singer from the late '80s called Chinatsu Kuzuu who released a couple of albums and an EP of great medieval (think Tennyson poems put to music etc.) pop but with that chintzy late '80s/early '90s style synth production.  Except it all works together perfectly for some mysterious reason.  She also has the least Engrishy accent of any native Japanese singer I know....though I'm sure there's still something off.  Maybe she went to Roedean or something? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsfNcEGb_XI

THERE IS NO MEDIEVAL EMEMNENT TO THE SAFETY DANCE BY MEN WITHOUT HATS

Safety Dance was about the band working on a building site, where they had to do a frantic dance to avoid falling stuff dropped from above, and they'd defied safety regulations by not wearing hard hats

Asked this before, but I'm asking again

You do seem a little fixated with such a specific pop cultural moment in time, Fred. Very niche.

Danielle Dax?

They're off Pop-Eyes, which frequently sounds medieval to me.

Some of Gentle Giant's later stuff (i.e. all the stuff the fans absolutely hate) probably fits.  It's even got madrigal vocals.

Later (Not Real era, less madrigal, more synth) Stealing Sheep, probably. The video's even got morris dancing in it:
