Can anyone identify a really upbeat song, I think by a kind of indie pop band, with an annoyingly catchy harmony chorus that goes kinda 'Ba-bap-bap-ba, bap-bap-bap-bap-ba, bap-bap-ba"? I think it had a load of drums going on, maybe some brass, and I think the video featured the blokes in the band just standing there singing during the chorus... I think it was out in the early '00s. I've been sleuthing like mad on the Googles and the YouTube, but I cannae get no joy.

Not early 2000s by any stretch of the imagination but that is phonetically exactly how the middle eight of 'Are You Blue Or Are You Blind?' by The Bluetones goes.

Suggestions much appreciated lads, but the mystery continues! It was more of a fun kinda song.

Another "not really the early 2000s" but there's a few Lightning Seeds singles that could fit the bill.

Unless you've misremembered the date and genre completely and the actual answer is Scatman John.

That was my first thought too.

Are the bap bap baps the actual vocals, or are they a kind of instrumental hook played on the brass or something?

Can we at least have some idea of how your baps fit into a bar?

Time period's way out, but I'm going for Greatness And Perfection.  One of the best bah-bap-bah choruses.

Probably isn't Until The Led by Vic Chesnutt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vca5ZqfHzAE but I'll suggest it anyway.

90% of Julian Cope songs have a bah bah bah chorus.

Post a vocaroo of you doing it you big git.

It's what Open Mike would want.

Again, thanks for the suggestions, but no... I actually could be wrong about the chorus being actually bap ba's, but that's how I remember it.

Is it 'Strumpet' by My Life Story from 1997?

Brass and baah-bap-baaaah chorus from 1:10 onwards.

Aw come on, I want to identify the song but we need more information than this. Use one of those recording sites to sing the tune as you remember. Ta x

That's the closet so far. Not as melodramatic though.
