Lovely drippy, echoey electronic stuff, core of the description I think

Thanks to purlieu for the recommendation

You probably know them, and I'm showing how old i am, but Isan must fit the bill.

They appeared on a Touched compilation but I mustn't have paid attention as this is lovely and I've now snagged their catalogue.

Their debut album was the last release to appear on Pete Namlook's FAX label before he died. Some nice stuff in their catalogue, but this one is my favourite to date.

Force Majeure influence?

not really- the ones before that... I think FM was their last decent album, & often get into scraps with TD fans who like 'thief' & 'tangram' better than, say, 'ricochet'.

we got compared to TD a lot, but our stock response was something along the lines of "not all bands who are guitar/guitar/bass/drums sound like the beatles", & there are many more acts in the 'berlin school' world who actively seek to ape the classic TD sound rather than do stuff like this- yes, this is the same band:

Well, its not like all your stuff sounds the same at all, but this certainly brought to mind FM.

I do like FM... but for me they lost the plot precipitously thereafter. I know what you mean. working on new stuff this year. :-)

Apart from Logos Live, Exit and Optical Race, their 80s output fluctuates depending on my mood whereas most of the 70s material will also shine.

As the years have gone on, I've found myself enjoying the Schmoelling era more and more. He had an ear for melody nobody else in the band got close to (until Thorsten turned up in the early '00s) - Tangram, Logos, Hyperborea and Poland are all very high on my TD list. The only '70s albums I'd rate as high are Rubycon and Force Majeure.

Just to add Track 2 of this album to the list (if it isn't hear already). Once the filtered percussion gets going this fits the bill.

Ooh yeah, that might be my favourite AoC track. Gorgeous stuff.

Anatole - Emulsion

This is superb stuff. Hits all the key features we're looking for and the journey of its composition wrongfoots you several times

'Express Point' by Matthew Hayes. Same goes for a lot of stuff on Analogue Attic, actually.

Hmm, this didn't sound like 'Horizon' or 'Easy' which I listened to afterwards. Their first album seems to be much more Aphex Twin/BOC influenced, while the most recent seems to be all pentatonic and Eastern influenced.

I generally get the point you're making about them. Could maybe use some minor key stuff - a lot of the songs set the same mood. It's quite high standard though.

Really good when the melodies come in! Cheers

Key changes are a bit predictable as an option for a 'how do i provide variety to this minimalist/loop based piece' these days.

Lovely mix of field recordings, synth backing, plinky piano and guitar strums. Serene yet plenty going on. A lot of the stuff on the label is of similar quality, superb traditional ambient music that creates a lovely mood.

Definitely not a quick tune, but very drippy and melodic.

Mary Lattimore is a harpist and this piece combines harp with piano and what seems to be background synth.

There is something sad and monumental about this, a fitting lament to its subject matter.
