Aww man. He was so good in those scenes. Sinister and comic at the same time.

I might have mentioned this but I was rewatching The Heart She Holler recently and he pops up in an early episode as a judge.

Custard

Up to episode 8 of my rewatch, and it's incredible television.

Ray shooting Fake Coop, the woodsmen appearing, the Nine Inch Nails doing "She's Gone". Then the nuclear blast and everything after

One of the best hours of television ever ever ever. Haunting, horrific, sublime

garbed_attic

It really bugs me that the 'Diane' podcast never recorded episodes on the last two episodes in their re-watch.

mjwilson

Just because of Covid, I'm sure we'll get them one day.

QDRPHNC

He just popped up in Kill Bill Vol. 2 the other night.

David Lynch working on a new (non-Twin Peaks) series for Netflix, set to begin production May 2021.

Small Man Big Horse

Blimey, that's fantastic news, can't wait to find out more about it.

Tbh I'm more concerned that Dave might not last that long, he looks like a proper frail old geezer these days compared to how hale and hearty he was in 2016/17.

Custard

Imagine he said it wasn't Peaks related, then it turns out it's focused on the "alternate dimension" Coop and Laura are stuck in

Ahhhhh

Ja'moke

That could be interesting, but I think I'm actually more excited for a brand new, non-Peaks TV series from Lynch.

I'm intrigued to find out the cast for this new series too. I remember reading rumours of Naomi Watts and Laura Dern also attending Netflix meetings around the same time.

Doesn't matter who's in it, as long as its not Corden.

Matt Forde is going to be starring in it.

Phwoar! Let's hope everyone is happy and healthy enough to make and watch this.

There will be an announcement from Lynch today.

NoSleep

About how he's going to remove all scenes and music featuring Marilyn Manson from his films?

Bad Ambassador

QDRPHNC

Old new thread here.

Edit: oh, it seems the announcement was that he was going to stop doing his weather reports. But now he's going to continue them after all. So.

GoblinAhFuckScary

Dog Botherer

knew the announcement was either going to be a hugely exciting new media project or some daft shit he was doing in his garden. legend.

PlanktonSideburns

hey, just cos youre not invested in his weather reports as he is

Custard

When he does make a big announcement, it's gonna be like the boy who cried wolf, and no one will tune in. Ahhhhhh....

Good analysis, I think on the idea that Lynch was trolling

https://twitter.com/DianePodcast/status/1356554990358265856

Not sure if I agree with the suggestion that Lynch isn't in any way an ironist. It's not the only string in his bow but it's definitely a major feature of a lot of his work. That said he probably was being sincere in his being touched by the outpouring of goodwill on his YouTube feed (a rare place to find goodwill).

Have you all seen the Twin Peaks S3/Seinfeld mash-up video "Seinfeld: The Return"? It's ridiculously good. It was originally released as a series of tweets, but they've now been exited together with "new" footage and remixed into a glorious 11-minute video: https://youtu.be/Cwt53VZcLRk

That's fantastic.

As I'm coming to the end of my S3 rewatch,  I was reading the subreddit for the show and saw this handy summery of all known information about Lynch's new show "Unrecorded Night/Wisteria" and how it could possibly be some kind of Peaks continuation - https://old.reddit.com/r/davidlynch/comments/k3be9b/a_full_recap_of_david_lynchs_upcoming_project/

Also it apparently goes into production in May. So I'm guessing we may see it in a year to 18 months time. Hurrah!
