Anyone read this stuff? I've read Scorch Atlas by Blake Butler and The Awful Possibilities by whoever it was, but I don't think those strictly come under the "bizarro" label. Didn't think much of them, but seem to be parts of a continuum of hipsterish CW graduates trying to outdo each other in a Burroughs/Lovecraft/pulp pastiche arms race.

Bizarro's been around for a while - I remember first hearing about it in 2006-ish - but I too have never really thought much of it. It all seems generally badly written, and mistakes some idea of "transgression" for genuinely surprising and surreal writing. Not to mention the cover for every other bizarro book published seems to feature a person with wiggly lines all over them, which got on my wick when I was trying to get into this stuff.
