I watch these videos by someone called GladJonas where speedrunners fail and scream and punch and break shit. I like looking at their reactions and living conditions and just feeling irrevocably superior.

Just watching some poor bugger playing MGS3 Snake Eater and he's reached the boss called The End having basically nailed the entire game up to this point and then good old Kojima takes over with both bugs and RNG and just bad luck and a couple of fuck ups. It ends up basically like a normal guy playing the game, getting pissed off, helpless, he has to invalidate the run by loading a save state and then he tries again and it's equally bad in a different way. He's basically dying on stage, devastated, and the commentators are trying to keep him motivated and then his wife makes a donation and says if you don't get sub 1hr20m, you're not sleeping with me for a week. Absolute quality.

Does doing the 'change the date on the console' trick for The End fuck up the speed run with MGS Snake Eater?

Never thought about it until now.

I dunno but one of the greatest bits of that particular run was that he referenced that trick and said something like 'don't do that, it's the pussy way to do it' and then proceeded to invalidate his own run by fucking it up and reloading a save state.
