Bad/ironically bad music on Youtube

I love finding horrible music videos on YouTube

I like ones where the song is sort of alright but there's something very wrong and awkward about the person performing. Like this one

Naomi Elizabeth- God Sent Me Here To Rock You

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=epRMpS5lk2I

The song isn't bad, but there's something off about it. She nearly got it right. Her Twitter bio says "I compose and perform music, even though I largely hate music. It's difficult to explain."

I really hope Maxine found happiness.

I would like to hear her collaborate with Mark Gormley.

Oh my god she is great. The voice, the random cutting to a computer screen, the shit costumes, dancing in front of an ugly construction fence

Wow, didn't he just. I love KW but all things considered I think Maxine is more entertaining.

I am a genuine, non-ironic fan of buffcorrell. He exudes enthusiasm and truth and honesty and is beautiful and I love him:

Just catching up on everything in this thread. You people are my heroes.

Clownbaby, I can't thank you enough for introducing me to Naomi Elizabeth. I'm genuinely a bit obsessed with her now. She's only the band Lady Gaga could have been.

BJ Snowden is totally charming.

Loving the playlist shared by riotinlagos. I've just noticed that I have the top YT comment on one of the videos. I think perhaps I spend too much time watching stuff like this.

Ah, fuck it. Thoughts:

'The Hurt' - my favourite of the whole thing. What is he doing with his face?!
'One Wife' - outside art of Daniel Johnston's calibre
'Ye Canna Beat an Egg' - am I cursed now?
'Down To Heavenly' - isn't that Norbert Grupe?
'Monkeys for Uncles' - they're talking shit, but I can't help begrudgingly admire the sheer effort involved
'Let's Go to the Prom' - I fully expect to see this guy on the news having driven a van into a crowd of teenage girls
'Take Me Home Tonight' - DVD extra from a US remake of OF&H

Some more:

About 15 years ago this woman had a whole Sky channel devoted to her. It was basically this video over and over again, along with remixes and interviews and terrible 'performances' in shopping centres and what have you. IIRC she had a rich boyfriend who set it up for her. The whole thing was a beautiful mélange of mediocrity and desperation and having more money than taste, and I still think about it almost daily.

Gary McKinnon is best known for perpetuating a massive military hack, but did you know he also made this piece of sub-Beloved ambient pop? He also made the video. What can it all mean?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcOY0kWQaqc

He gets his talent from his mum:

And finally D4nny:

PaulTMA

DANCE WITH ME by Magic Bus
"Enchanting track with haunting lyrics found on a 1993 Royal Bank Of Scotland cassette featuring demos of bands recorded at Edinburgh's Jewel And Esk Valley College.  Little is known about the composer, the inlay card features no tracklisting or artist credits, though a brief introduction is given at the start of the cassette - although it doesn't appear to be consistent with the actual running order."

Crystal Hayes must be being ironic?

She reminds of my neighbour that I have a secret crush on.

I know right? There's so little information about her and that just makes her more interesting. And it seems like she's accidentally managed to be more creative than Gaga. It's proper eerie uncanny valley music, possibly by accident, possibly not, we'll probably never know

Clownbaby

Also I was wondering where I recognised Tanese Grey. Tim and Eric, Gettin' it Dunn

John Daker is a bit heartbreaking, he looks like he's detached himself from the situation completely and is silently pleading for it to be over. Bill Burr turned me on to that clip

Isn't the Maxine Swaby one a rip-off of There Must Be An Angel(Playing With My Heart)?

I'm slightly obsessed with Pardon Me now, I've never heard anyone sing in quite such a bizarrely distant, affectless way without doing it deliberately.

Oddly, there's a different version on youtube which sounds like it's been re-recorded in a proper studio, and she might've had some vocal coaching or something. It's not quite the same.

Wow, and it's nowhere near as endearing as the original. It's not going to stop me from singing 'Pardon Me' every time I burp.

Had a minor obsession with this guy about 15 years ago:

No video, but this song by Jacques Villeneuve really is something. Any song that starts 'hey ladies of my life' is alright by me, and 'never in or out from the front door' is the icing on the cake.

Ahh you beat me to it. They're a brilliant trio. If you were watching the first bloke for the first time and I was to tell you "The next one's even worse and the third one is even worse than the first two" you'd never believe me.

"When I go to the gym I am loving it, yes? With aching muscles it...is the best." That delivery wrecks me every time. God bless you, The Duffinator.

Pleasantly surprised to see this still up, albeit unlisted, as he's purged most of his Youtube vids (including another favourite Wifey Ting, but the audio is still up here - https://www.reverbnation.com/daveneurotic/song/11172784-wifey-ting).

The Duffinator was the best of the bunch anyway - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIrYPDs9Uu0
