Does anyone else remember this catchy little tune, Steamhammer Sam, by Intaferon, which got airplay on Radio One in early-1984, but didn't crack the top 40.

The story about this song's creation is here. I just took it as a comedy song at the time. Seems the light-hearted quality was actually an ironic juxtaposition to the grim meaning, which aimed to make the song more palatable.

This is great, thanks! The rhyming of "steamhammer" with "slammer" is a solid payoff towards the end there.

I posted it just the other day in reference to Max Headroom, and have since sought it out (ie Soulseek), put it on a car CD and thus it was played on my way to and from Margate yesterday. Love it, I'd call it an 80s Excerpt From A Teenage Opera. Video directed by Lindsay Anderson, according to YouTube commenter.

according to that link, which seems more likely.
