"from which satirical news programme did the obscure spacerock band 'radio massacre international' derive the title of their album, 'planets in the wires'?"

although come to think of it, that was actually 'brass eye' we got that from, along with some johnny-come-lately welsh bastards & all, it seems, two years after us.

Obscure? You were an answer in my North East Mastermind 2012 specialist knowledge round.

Organ Harvest! Was listening to a lot of Dean De Benedictis (Surface 10) at the time and this was right on the sequencer hot spot.

my cousin's 4-your-old daughter, now early 20s supermodel/web designer, daubed that cover & gave the label quite a headache trying to line up the same image inside the jewel case & on the disc itself, & they put up a fight when I said 'no writing of any sort on the disc'.... ah, but you wouldn't know all this if you swiped it from the interwebs.
the title, incidentally, is nothing to do with waking up in a bathtub full of ice with a new scar & deficient in the kidney department; we were sitting outside the alwynne bay in islington having a few pints & shooting the breeze when the phrase came up as a description of children. quite innocent. the same drinking session decided that brian eno was a god of electricity, & we had that for a title too, though the album was shelved for a few years because the wee radge who ran the label told us "there's nae choons on it".

astonished to find a good shot on the web of the actual mechanics of OH....

BlodwynPig

We should take this over to a RMI thread, really, but thanks for the insights. My own personal "chat with a superstar" right here on CaB!

Oh, and I didn't nick it from Napster in 2000...got it from soulseek a few years back but do own the CD as well (my vinyl/cd/cassette equipment mothballed since moving to Germany in 2006).

Paraphrased:

Which show co-written with Charlie Brooker featured a character who described himself as a self-facilitating media node?

What was the name of his debut film starring Riz Ahmed about a group of...

Heavy electricity and the made up drug cake featured on which show?

***

Beaman kept interrupting incorrectly, felt sorry for his teammates; Golfinos one to watch!

EOLAN

Well obviously I would have got all three right, with a  slight delay on the first two but managing to come up with the answers before Paxman would (rightly) start with his 'Come on, Lets have an answer.'
If nerves did get the better of me I could have blurted out Three Lions to question 2.

Blue Jam

Fuck's sakes Beaman... His teammates were probably all resisting the urge to facepalm...

I was amused by that, less so by his sneering at Golfino for knowing stuff about video games. You snob, Jezza.

Twit 2

Yes, but video games are for children. Carry on, Jezz.

FUCK OFF GRANET

I've been sick as fuck the past day or two from food poisoning, but sat through last night's episode -- what an annoying scrote that guy is.

He's got a right thrashing on Twitter, not that I suspect he gives a fuck.

Also-- 'The Beach Boys'?!

Clownbaby

Fuck sake, one of the few times there's questions that I can answer and I decide not to watch it that day. I could have looked clever for a second.

I thought he was refreshingly honest in his jubilation. It's a highly competitive game! Fair fucks mate, you carry on. Preferable to our stick up the arse awkward poshos.

Nah, that blonde one was where it was at.

Felt sorry for the defeated team, especially the one on the left who basically had his head in his hands from roughly the halfway mark when it was obvious how fucked his team was. Don't think he attempted to answer a single question, mind you.

How do all those playing at home do on getting correct answers, btw ? I tend to average about 10 correct answers per episode ( managed 11 this week,  got all me philosophers correct ).

About 30 at this stage in the competition. More like 20 in the finals when the questions get harder.  I went through a little phase of counting them and now can't be arsed. Would have got a fuck lot fewer when I was actually at uni though.

Good memory and wide taste account for a lot of it, nothing to do with intelligence. I really haven't read - let alone understood - half the stuff I know as answers on the show.
