A year or two ago you couldn't escape him - he was always popping up on the telly on those talking head "let's source all our videos from youtube because we're cheap and don't care that it looks shit" clip shows.

Acquired another VHS player for £3 from a charity store. Heres a pic of my tower of VHS players.

For future (spam) purposes.

Okey Dokey.

Here's another bit of old TV, though not that old. It's the BBC 10 O'Clock News from the end of May 2006. Only twelve years ago and it seems like another era, before the world went totally insane and even before capitalism melted down.

Another scrap. This one is an advert for some musical on the BBC Arena strand called Ligmalion from the mid 80s which features Tim Curry. A load of old wank it looks like too. After that is the start of a documentary without a narrator about a flight of the Red Arrows. That cuts off just at the point it might (and I stress might) stop being deathly boring.

My dad had that! He fancied learning. Watched once then never again.

For a moment I couldn't make out that there's a little drawing of sunglasses in his name there. I initially thought someone had tried to amend his name to Julian Cunt

At first glance I swore it said "Julian Cope". Unusual career move for the Arch-Drude, I thought.

It's hard enough trying to juggle a wife, kids and a full-time job.

PM me for more of this stuff

A small bit of Going Live! from the early nineties, probably. In this bit Sarah Greene and Philip Schofield are demonstrating 3DTV. Get your cardboard specs with the green and red plastic lenses ready!

Somebody probably spent a fair amount of time making that 3D version of the Going Live! logo, only for Sarah Greene to stand in front of it for the entire time it's onscreen.

I posted this in the Viz highlights thread in the comedy chat forum. I thought I might chance it here though.

I don't suppose you captured any off air copies of the Viz animations from over the christmas period in the 90s? Particularly episodic versions of Billy The Fish and Roger Mellie.

There's an animation title sequence for The Further Adventures Of Billy The Fish which I haven't seen since the early days of YouTube (now taken down). I'm hitting 40 soon and getting quite nostalgic and that was something I was obsessed with during my school years (my dad hated and banned Viz from our house).

I spoke to Tony Barnes, the director/animator of them who said he doesn't have copies of the episodic versions. The masters went over to the guys at Viz. I thought I could request a copy from Channel 4 but it says requests for shows will be ignored due to volume. I'm at a loss where else I could see this again hence I thought I'd ask here.

Here's a bit of continuity, a Minder trailer and some ads from just before 2pm on Christmas Day on Channel 4 in 1988. It's nice to be precise for once.

And another very brief clip from a BBC Omnibus documentary called The Green Man where Pat Mills talks about his 2000AD comic character Slaine and we see some hopeless nerds in London's Forbidden Planet.

Yes, I'm one of them. No, I'm not saying which one.

A sequel of sorts to the Yellow Submarine upload(shite quality again, sorry). This was what else was on the same tape, recorded from ITV the morning after. A bit of Porky Pig followed by some ads preceding the Friday bank holiday showing of Watership Down.

I never bought the DVDs as I presumed they were just transfers of the VHS omnibus versions (which I transferred yrs ago). That never had the alternative title sequence for "The Further Adventures of Billy The Fish" included. The omnibus version has a static caption with the theme tune. There was another title sequence which began on water. Billy leapt in an out of the water towards the camera until he headed a ball which then became the static image with the caption and Harry Enfield proclaiming "The Further Adventures Of Billy The Fish". Last time I saw it was about 2007 or 08 when somebody uploaded it to YouTube. It was taken down years ago and I've never seen it since. I've been a bit obsessed with finding it again as most avenues I've tried have been dead ends (including the director/animator).

Of course if anyone who has that DVD can confirm or deny if I'm correct. Is it the omnibus version or has it been split into episodes (with opening and closing titles)?

Phil_A

Re-upload of an old compilation of UK Gold adverts circa 1993, which you may be fascinated to learn took place between an omnibus showing of the Dr Who serial "Colony In Space".

The Duracell roller skaters ad, and "as strong as your aftershave?" Things not thought about in decades but instantly familiar.
