Supernature, man!

Bloody AutoCerrone!

Day-umn! Now that's what you call a hook.

Maybe staying away from the OP, but I was reminded of Patrick Cowley's mix of Tantra - Hills Of Katmandu

Killer tune. Patrick Cowley is another surely deserving of his own thread. Mind Warp (recorded when Cowley was dying of AIDS in 1982) is a amazing album, by turns bleak and euphoric. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYZL8zfFPpA&t=7s

It certainly is a belter. There is a live version from Dutch TV that demonstrates what fantastic vocalists they were (Ferguson in particular probably didn't even need a microphone).

flotemysost

Love this shit!

Here's a couple of more modern tracks, but with a similar sound (both have fantastically camp videos too):

Music Go Music - Light of Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQbsVNnPjkc
This used to be on the playlist in a pub I worked at (pre-Shazam) and whenever it came on I'd be trying to scribble the lyrics on napkins so I could look it up when I got home. We called it 'the mystery Abba song'.

Fitness Forever - Lui https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeXGMa6xu7k
Possibly not disco, but definitely Euro. Lovely arrangements, and guaranteed to put me in a good mood if it's on my morning commute soundtrack.

Maurice Yeatman

Eurovision winner A-Ba-Ni-Bi, a personal favourite of Jeremy Corbyn's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZRQPif18EY

Hoy Chocolate - lots of styles if you avoid the big hits

Patsy Gallant - From New York to L.A.

Linda Lewis - I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You

I was just about to mention Patsy in the singers who don't look like they sound thread. I have a very clear vision in my head of watching her do that song on Top Of The Pops. A tall black woman with close-cropped hair. Then a few years ago I decided to look it up on YouTube...

Some great choices by the way but can I add Odyssey's Native New Yorker and Kelly Marie's Feels Like I'm In Love? Come on, the latter's great. Written for Elvis allegedly and the perfect waltzer at the fairground tune.

Feel's Like I'm In Love is great cheese, I loved disco as a kid - my dad was a big Donna Summer fan and I remember hearing this a lot

Which along with Funky Town was used in this bootleg which was the inspiration for Jesse Saunders On & On, supposedly the first house tune ever

Bonus beats for Clownbaby

Divine - Native Love (bootleg 12" mix)

Played that last Friday and mixed Funkytown 12" into it. Great fun teasing the dancefloor before bringing in the Funkytown synth.

Lovely summery French eurodisco here:

Nobody has suggested Can - I Want More yet? I'm impressed the rest of you are better at keeping your condescension in check than I am...

So was Sylvia Love by the sound of it!

Sylvia Love - Instant Love (1979)

QuoteChantal Pierre was born in Paddington, London, United Kingdom in 1956, but we know her under her stage name - Sylvia Love.
She is of French/Mauritian descent and she got her stage name because RCA already had an artist called Chantal somewhere else. The label suggested a name change why Chantal and the people around her fired up some names and Sylvia Love was born.

(I actually like this even better than 'I feel love' - massive ripoff though it is, of course. It's just got so many great little hooks in it - and that drummer cooks one hell of a groove!)

This is a bit of fun disco

Super kitsch TOTP appearance from 1978

Posting such a track by a credibly lauded band rather than a pop act.

Curiosity?

Thinking your musical education is complete is the worst musical delusion there is.

False division, mate, so condescension would be misplaced.  Better to operate on the basis that any lauding is credible, i.e. that it derives from a genuinely enthusiastic response.  Where it matters (the head and heart of the listener), great commercial pop is the credible equal of great, critically acclaimed non-commercial music.  Arrival by Abba is as magnificent a work as This Heat's Deceit, as Charles Hayward will tell you (he's very much an Abba fan).

Ah, I wondered why I could never get on with This Heat's music.

Kurt Cobain was famously an Abba fan too.

As was Throbbing Gristle's Chris Carter.

I never think my musical education is complete. He clearly posted in here with an obviously not Eurodisco song to make a point of saying that he thinks Eurodisco isn't credible, not out of curiosity at all mate

Don't make the assumption that I'm close minded about music.  Anything but. If anything the person writing off a whole genre as not credible because they don't like it is the close minded one so I don't know why you'd be directing that at me.
