The 'Audience With' prog on the non-special edition doesn't feature the advertised Q&A (which is mentioned on the back of the cover). Is there one on the other set?

I'm not sure... there's two episodes that freak me out and I'm not sure I could revisit them 35 years later. Firstly where their house is encased in concrete, they grow old and die trapped and isolated, then are discovered by versions of themselves from the far future. Chilling. Secondly where the end of the world is nigh at midnight, which eventually does happen, then the BBC globe explodes. Oh god I'm terrified again

Oh and also where they explode an atomic bomb while playing cricket? Bit hazy on that one

While we're here - is there an episode of the Goodies where they're White Faced clowns and there are a series of railway carriages one inside another? Or was that a dream I had because I was eight (8)?

There is one in which they somehow end up with a giant tin of soup which has in fact been engineered as a form of chemical warfare, to turn those who consume it into clowns.  The trio of course end up consuming it.

One buyer tried the "chroma dot colour recovery" at home on Caught In The Act, and he actually got some results too.

Sorry for a very late reply to this one, but it sounds like 'Daylight Robbery On The Orient Express', Series 6 Episode 3, originally shown 5 October 1976, where they set up a faked tour company on a train and there's a trio of Marcel Marceau-types impersonating them.

I never got round to buying this set when it came out last year, but I was just browsing and it seems that a new 14-disc set was released earlier this month.

2018 (12-disc): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-Complete-BBC-Collection-DVD/dp/B07F11KZJP/
2019 (14-disc): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-DVD-Bill-Oddie/dp/B07XGB2TTW/

The new one looks like it's all the previous year's discs, plus the LWT series, plus "An Audience With..." I think I'll be better off with this newer one, but can anyone shed any more light before I take the plunge?

As I understand it, the 14 disc set is just the 12 disc set with the previously released LWT series bunged in (all the extras listed are originally from that set).

The LWT set can still be had - currently a snip at for £6.99 - and includes a booklet (which I don't think is included on the new 14 DVD set)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-Complete-LWT-DVD/dp/B000MQCBMW

so that'd be £45 & £7 = £52 for the 12 disc set + LWT set (+ booklet)  /   compared with £60 for the 14 disc set

Other than the LWT set, None of the special features - (extras, commentaries & booklets) - that were included on the first two "At Last" sets have been ported over into either 12 or 14 disc set. (The third one had a booklet but no extras)

A further wrinkle is that the first one was was re-issued with a booklet, but lost all the following extras:
- Audio Commentary on "Kitten Kong" by Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor
- Audio Commentary on "The Goodies and the Beanstalk" by Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor
- Audio Commentary on "Lighthouse Keeping Loonies" by Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor
- Out-takes (2:00)
- "Broaden Your Mind" Surviving Film Footage (8:27)
- Storyboard: - "The Goodies and the Beanstalk"
- alternative 'no laughter track' audio for "The Goodies and the Beanstalk"
- "Digital Restoration" featurette (4:05)
- two hidden Easter eggs : TV Ad (0:42) + Segment on Show Timings (0:58)

2003 'extras' version (yellow 'Goodies') - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-At-Last-BBC-DVD/dp/B00008MJ0W/
2010 'booklet' version (red 'Goodies' & purple BBC logo) -  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-At-Last-BBC-DVD/dp/B0044CO0WE/

- - - - - - - - - -

The "Second Helping" originally came with both booklet and the following extras :
- Audio Commentary on "The Movies" by Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor
- Audio Commentary on "South Africa" by Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor
- Audio Commentary on "The End" by Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor
- "Christmas Night With The Stars" Clip (7:34)
- "Restoration" featurette (2:23)
- "Crackerjack: A Man's Best Friend is His Duck'" Clip (2:22)
- "A Collection of Goodies: Gynasium" Clip (4:24)
- "Goodies In Conversation" Audio Presentation (20:05)
- DVD-ROM Features: - Scripts for ALL Episodes (in PDF format)

I don't know if the second version of that (identifiable by the purple BBC logo) lost the extras, but to be on the safe side, stick with the original version - (with the Red 'Goodies' - the re-issue that it in Yellow plus purple BBC Logo)

2005 Original (Red 'Goodies') - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-Last-Second-Helping-BBC/dp/B00079ZB9O
2010 re-issue (Yellow 'Goodies' & Purple BBC logo) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-At-Last-Second-Helping/dp/B004874BTC

(if you fancy the extras, You should be able to get both of the original (2003 / 2005) DVDs for around a fiver each on ebay)

Thanks for that, daf - I don't know where I got the idea that the "Audience With..." wasn't in last year's box. I think there were some CDs that were part of a pre-order deal or something, and maybe I'm getting mixed up with that.

Anyway, Amazon have very kindly put the price up by a fiver overnight - not that I'm paranoid - so all of a sudden it's cheaper to buy directly from Network DVD (which to be honest makes me feel better about myself anyway).

Half of the 'Audience with' was on the 12 disc set - the bit with Stewart Lee interviewing them.

They later released the full show on a separate DVD - (which includes the Dick Fiddy second half interview) : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodies-Audience-DVD/dp/B07KLFJDLS

Now, I don't know if the 14 disc set has the full show, or just the first half as in the 12 disc set. I haven't read that it is on there in full . . . so it probably isn't . . . plus, from a business standpoint, if it WAS, it would instantly make the separate DVD redundant & un-sellable.

If you're not bothered about the booklet (from the separate LWT set), I'd wait for the 14 disc set to drop in price (as the 12 disc set did) . . . plus, by THAT time, they will probably have re-packaged it again with some new bits!

Yes, 'The Cricklewood Tapes' were originally part of a limited edition bundle (along with two Andrew Pixley books).  Luckily, for those that missed the original offer, they also released the CD set separately : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cricklewood-Tapes-set-Goodies/dp/B07X5R5BBD

The 14 disc set is on sale for £40 in some branches of Sainsburys, if there are any near you.

Oh wow, I never even realised you could download the software to do this. I'm trying that out for sure.

Here's the link I found BTW:

Just reading about the Chevalier d'Éon, an eighteenth century diplomat who apparently changed gender from male to female. https://georgianera.wordpress.com/tag/chevalier-deon/

Is this the right thread?

I guess she does look a bit like Tim Brooke-Taylor so yes.

Glebe

Even more like Richard Curtis. Or a human Boris Johnson.

The resemblance to TB-T seemed uncanny to me, which was why I posted it.  *does Timbo crying face*
