Ben Garrison is starting to lose his mind I think

Not even labeling the characters or objects in his pictures, he's letting things slip.

One on the left is Cro-Magnon man. Looks like he's meeting a communist Robert Mitchum in the showers at a (very inclusive) gym. Fair enough.

Quote of the day, on mitigating the impact of reports around Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin's potential conflict of interests in reducing sanctions on Oleg Deripaska's company (with significant minority ownership of Len Blavatnik), my emphasis:

QuoteThe Treasury Department said that Mr. Mnuchin attended only one party on Mr. Blavatnik's yacht, but would not provide details about the circumstances.

Phew! That's alright then.

I mean, this probably has zilch to do with Mueller's investigation but it doesn't look good working for an administration that is under investigation for coordination with Russia, and going for a hoe-down on a Russian oligarch's private yacht while working out sanctions.

Lot of other shady shit in the full article.

Bernie will have to reconsider any run in 2020. How did he hide this from the public until now?

Interesting how this video of Bernie Sanders declaring himself a Socialist during his race for governor of VT in 1986 didn't surface in 2016.

"I'm outraged about the system we are living in...I want to see a radical redistribution of wealth and power in this country." Ok, then.

Cuellar

Hmm that doesn't sound like the Bernie Sanders I know

Why do Americans have such an anti-bonk-on for socialism?

The people behind this are such sociopaths they really think they've aired him saying something bad.

The person who tweeted that horror story describes themselves as progressive.

She wants a woman to win.

I love the way she keeps trying to dunk on Bernie but is accidentally making an amazing case for him every single time:

It's hilarious. She has no value system and so can't tell that the things she's sharing are positive.

I guess a simple (probably incorrect) answer is that they've so bought into the concept of "The American Dream", that if you work hard enough you can be anything, that anything vaguely "leftie" is akin to cheating the system.

Howj Begg

Ha. Fantastic stuff. "Arrogance against women", interestingly, is the same line used against Corbyn recently. Coordinated bollocks over the Atlantic.

This tweet underneath, liked 2.2k times, is the appropriate response now and forever:

Thanks so much for all your work promoting Bernie Sanders lately. Between this and the shirtless Russian video, you've done a lot to boost his image and I want you to know it's really appreciated..

And we're seeing a lot of upper-middle class women like the above who have been enjoying an increase in social value in recent years, and they will do anything to maintain that status. It's quite funny watching them try to juggle that with appearing to not be massively right-wing and self-serving, but also horrible watching them shriek nonsense at the expense of people who actually need politics to change to help them.

From Newsweek-

QuoteNoting President Donald Trump's light public schedule this week, on Wednesday night CNN anchor Don Lemon questioned whether the president was "working hard or hardly working," and seemed to conclude the latter.

"What is he doing? What is he doing? Think about it. Looks like he's having a whole lot of 'executive time,'" Lemon said, making air quotations, "Behind closed doors in the White House."

Lemon based his assessment on CNN Tonight off Trump's schedule, which only listed a lunch with Vice President Mike Pence on Monday, nothing on Tuesday and an intelligence briefing on Wednesday. Lemon also pointed out that Trump had not spoken publicly in five days.

"The official schedule released by the White House shows the president had two meetings this week. Two," Lemon said.

The CNN anchor noted that Trump attended a private fundraiser on Wednesday at his hotel in Washington, D.C., along with Vice President Mike Pence. Trump also had a call with Venezuelan Interim President Juan Guaido.

"But there are still hours and hours and hours of unaccounted-for time," Lemon said. "So it makes you wonder, what is the president of the United States doing with all that time, with so little on his schedule?"

There is no official way to know, Lemon said. "Unofficially though, we know there is Twitter," he said. "This president tweets from early morning until late night."

Lemon then played clips from Trump on the campaign trail in 2016 including one in which he promised, "If I win, we're going to work really hard."

I'm all for it. The longer he spends fucking around on Twitter the less he can fuck around with real politics.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable, along with 60-odd years of "reds under the bed" anti-communist propaganda that tars anything vaguely leftish with the same brush

And in some areas the belief that financial wealth represents one's innate worth (likely because of the implication that God intervened but obviously the hard-work fallacy mentioned above) and so the poor are basically getting what they deserve.

Mister Six

Although how much this is really representative of the wider American people and how much is just the monotone of a political and pop-cultural chorus that has only just been broken with the rise of social media is unclear.

Poor people are willing to vote for policies that benefit the rich by not paying their fair share because they too want to benefit from the same policies by not paying their fair share when they get rich because most people are thick and/or cunts.

It is the most successful ideological con trick ever pulled, even more prominent in the US than here, and it has acquired all sort of peripheral elements which you see used in arguments online or in journals to justify voting conservative/republican/Kodos; freedom, guns, the founding fathers, Bolshevism, Venezuela, theology, evangelical eschatology, men's rights, evolution, racial ideas... so many completely unrelated concepts or ideas have been co-opted into the rejection of economic fairness, that you begin to see how comprehensive the intellectual architecture constructed to justify selfishness, and self-directed violence is. Even supposedly intelligent people are easily fooled, and the architecture is so speciously impressive and comprehensive that it's naturally travelled here. One UK poster typed this in another thread:

QuoteYet isn't that why you'd happily wave though a Corbyn government in the next General Election? "If I can't have none, no one else will either." The politics of spite and learned helplessness.

A direct statement of American ideas of how fairness is actually unfairness. The mental contortions are impressive in their complete vapidity and transparency.

However, I think that the the essential brazen falseness of the ideas, and the inherent incoherence of the architecture have been pushed so far that they are beginning to totter. Which is why I think we are already seeing nervous laughter and facial ticks about AOC's tax plan, and indeed Bernie's estate tax plan today. Tucker Carlson came out and said he was interested in AOC's redistribution ideas. I think many former Trump voters will be keen to vote for Bernie, bros or not, and AOC is gradually becoming a hero to some of these, in both cases even if only that it pwns the libs.  The edges are fraying somewhat.

Sorry, prob not right thread, but whatevs.

My favourite bit about that Bernie thread is that she shares a clip where Bernie says he likes the female Democrat, that he's worked with her for years and that she's an honest and intelligent person - and then she goes on to tweet that this clips shows the arrogance and nastiness towards women that Bernie would later use against our good good Hillary.
