Trump's also retweeted a post having a go at John McCain and his daughter. Classy, Donald.

For some reason he's angry with some people at Fox News as well, not quite sure why.

The man is a willy. And he'll probably be the Republican nominee in 2020.

One of the few things Trump has done right is troll the fuck out of the Mc Cain family, yep its for the wrong reasons, but glad someone has done it so constantly.

I just wish he was pointing out what a cunt McCain was rather than bolstering his image with badly thought out attacks on his kids.

Trump is pissed off at Fox News as they've suspended one of their madder presenters. She said something along the lines that a Democrat Muslim presidential candidate (I think, but then again they all seem to be running) was Anti-American because she wears a hijab and probably supports sharia law.

Advertisers started voting with their feet and she's off air for now and Trump misses her.

When Bernie Sanders becomes president in 2020, which he will do, the only thing I worry about him is his foreign policy, his internal policy is perfect, however he wants America to be just another normal country. which its not.
he just wants to be like the UK of Germany and France or Japan powerful but sort of normal.
America has been a sort of global lynchpin since 1945. his foreign policy sucks. really weak. how does the US untangle itself and become a normal country.

Withdraw all U.S. forces within the first month of his presidency, halt arms sales to foreign countries, stop spending trillions of dollars on unaccountable military-industrial corruption? The U.S. has done more to destabilize world peace over the last 80 years than any other country since Nazi Germany.

He won't of course, but he's better then the alternatives.

Declare War!!

On itself.

War, huh, yeah
What is it good for?............

Sanders has been part of the military-industrial complex especially when it comes to jobs provided by GE and Lockheed Martin in Vermont. That should obviously change when he doesn't have to worry so much about local jobs and local votes. Also the Green New Deal allows him an out when it comes to replacing these jobs.

In short he's a pragmatist. Gabbard's ideology is purer.

Yep. Unfortunately, that ideology is Hindu Nationalism.

I remember when I saw him speak locally (in 2017, and he was still pulling crowds lining up down the street!) a nearby fellow wanted to grill him on this. It's true, no doubt. He couldn't exist in his position if he didn't let it happen, but that doesn't make it good.

Gabbard is too sullied. I gave her $5 today to help push her to the contribution count necessary to get her on the debate stage, but she has been too extreme on gay rights in the past to survive, and she's just not popular outside of the hard left.

Twed

Warren has made her position very clear. She's a left-leaning type but with a strong belief in markets. She's coming out with great policies, but "there are many paths to healthcare" instead of "I outright support M4A" is no good.

Edit: Sorry thought this was the 2020 thread

Urinal Cake

Like I've said before Gabbard's main strength is to pull the candidates away from regime change and interventionism. Just as Sanders has made single payer the standard when comparing healthcare plans.

Bringing this back to Trump these are positions he's entertained/brain-farted but did not follow through. So I hope whoever gets nominated should ping him on this.

Gabbard has also stated that she is a "hawk" for the War on Terror and supports drone strikes, etc. Her reputation as  an ideologically pure non-interventionist is highly suspect.

Urinal Cake

Yeah she's a dove on regime change, a hawk on terrorism. If she was President in 2001 she would've invaded Afghanistan but not invaded Iraq. Gabbard has been much more forthright on Venezuela than Sanders. Partly due to Sanders not wanting voters to think he's a new World order socialist. Partly because foreign affairs isn't his main interest.

Paul Calf

And partly because there are no Muslims in Venezuela and Iraq was a secular state strongly opposed to Islamic fundamentalism?

Urinal Cake

Well that doesn't explain her non-interventionist stance in Libya or Syria.

Every candidate is fallible. I'm sure when she get's called out on her Hindu-nationalism she'll show some Sanders/Warren/O'Rourke like pragmatism like she did with her views on gays. The only difference is that she didn't sell out her beliefs from the start solely to look attractive.

I mean if she hated Muslims so much why did she defend Ilhan Omar? Because when it comes to a debate about foreign policy she's open minded. Further as Hindu woman she could relate to Omar being accused of having divided loyalties.

Twed

As a Hindu woman she probably gets treated as a Muslim by 99% of Americans.

Yeah, her concern is minimising threats to US soldiers, not stopping the US from fucking up foreign countries. If those remote-control robots from that Neill Blomkamp film were a thing she'd happily let US soldiers vicariously stomp through Afghanistan villages.

She doesn't look Indian and her name isn't obviously culturally specific, so she probably gets treated like a generic  white American, I would have thought.

Urinal Cake

No way people would think she's white like Warren white. Not even Beto O'Rourke white. Given her picture and one piece of information like she's from Hawaii people would think she's half black like Obama or native Hawaiian. Informed of her religion or name they'd think she's Indian. If you saw her on the street she's a vague beige- Hispanic, South Asian, Arabic, Black or some mixture inbetween.

garnish

What the fuck is this shit about how black people think she is

Urinal Cake

Because like it or not it still matters to the other politicians, media pundits and voters- see Ilhan Omar. It was easy to throw her to the wolves because she was young, female, black and Muslim instead of looking at the merits of her argument.

garnish

But you are making up what you think other people think of her skin colour

Urinal Cake

Okay I should say if I saw her in the street and asked to guess what her ethcity is then that's what I would say.  But as a minor candidate  people will use a definitive piece of information as well as her appearance to jump to a easy conclusion.
I doubt people would take the 30 seconds to find out she Samoan/German/Other European.

Edit: See initially I said Anglo-Scots instead of Other European until I checked wikipedia again. And I'm a fan.

Mister Six

Hispanic maybe, "indeterminately ethnic", sure. I doubt that 99 percent (or most, or even a significant number) of Americans who know nothing about her, upon seeing her and/or hearing her name, assume she's a Muslim. Which was the initial contention.

On Gabbard, old article but still relevant (except for the LGBT stances which she has since unequivocally backed away from): https://jacobinmag.com/2017/05/tulsi-gabbard-president-sanders-democratic-party
