Well we all know that antifa are the real fascists so I guess Trump is an anti-fascist now. Hurrah.

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/404097-andrew-gillum-wins-florida-democratic-gubernatorial-race-in-stunning-upset

QuoteTallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, a progressive aligned with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), pulled off a stunning win in Florida's Democratic gubernatorial primary on Tuesday, edging out former Rep. Gwen Graham (D-Fla.).

Gillum won the primary with 34 percent of the vote, the Associated Press projected with 87 percent of precincts reporting. Graham, the daughter of former Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.), won 32 percent of the vote.

The come-from-behind win defied expectations and is bound to invite comparisons to the win by progressive star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who stunned the political world in June by defeating established Rep. Joe Crowley in a New York Democratic primary.

Gillum will face off against Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) in the gubernatorial election in November, pitting a progressive against a hardline conservative backed by President Trump.

A win in November would make Gillum the first black governor in Florida's history.

Few had expected it. Most recent public polls showed Gillum in third place, trailing Graham and former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine for the Democratic nod to replace Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R).

the blue wave is real imo

When you are looking yawning defeat in the face, try trusty ol' racism:

https://eu.tallahassee.com/story/news/2018/08/29/desantis-accused-making-racist-slur-gillum/1131912002/

QuoteRon DeSantis, the Republican nominee for Florida Governor told Fox News this morning that Florida shouldn't "monkey this up" by embracing the agenda of Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum.

"The last thing we need to do is monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state," DeSantis said in an interview this morning about running against the Tallahassee mayor.

The Florida Democratic Party responded immediately.

"It's disgusting that Ron DeSantis is launching his general election campaign with racist dog whistles," FDP Chairwoman Terrie Rizzo said in a news release.

Gillum spokesman Geoff Burgan said the campaign was letting the FDP respond. "DeSantis' comments speak for themselves," Burgan said.

QuoteNot only did Congressman Ron DeSantis easily win the Republican Primary, but his opponent in November is his biggest dream....a failed Socialist Mayor named Andrew Gillum who has allowed crime & many other problems to flourish in his city. This is not what Florida wants or needs!

Don McGahn sacked by tweet.

Don McGone.

As soon as he'd revealed that he'd McGahn and testified to Mueller, the writing was on the wall.

QuoteA man has been arrested and charged with threatening to kill employees of the Boston Globe newspaper, in messages repeating Donald Trump's claims that journalists are the "enemy of the people" and "fake news".

This is why biggy shouldn't endorse Trump's use of a Stalinist phrase that incites a mob mentality.

'MSM' is a difficult one. When should one stop using a phrase that is a perfectly reasonable descriptor, but has been infected by its use by the far right? ('virtue-signalling' being one of the other examples).

'Corporate media' is okay and more specific though slightly hackneyed. It's nice to go for variety I find - 'big media' 'big money media' 'orthodox media'... You've got to be able to name them for the lies and distortions that they spread and the wars they enable in the interesests of profit and the people they serve.

I'm not aware of a single journalist in the US having actually been killed by a politically motivated Trump supporter though (correct me if I'm wrong).

I certainly think it's a good thing, though the immediate response to the Maryland murders of journalists suggested that a lot of people were pretty desperate that they should be politically inspired despite a complete lack of evidence. It was what you would call 'swivel eyed', including on this board.

As I say I don't think Trump's incitements are 'ok' at all, they are repulsive, but I think it's best to stay sane.

Everytime I watch CNN call John Mc Cain an American hero  I'm reminded of why I'm thankful  Trump won over Hillary...

Trump is a cunt but at least he is honest about being a cunt...he scares the shit out of them..im glad he folded his arms and scolded that repulsive  cabal when they asked if he has any thoughts on Mcains death that Yemeni school bus butchering bastard.... the John Mcain types are in an ironic way  responsible for Trump becoming President.

Urinal Cake

I think that's a oversimplification. Trump was a cunt to Americans and foreigners. McCain was friendly to foreign cunts.

I disagree with it being good that Trump won, but I get where you're coming from.

I saw a headline just now from CNN. "Joe Biden's McCain eulogy just explained exactly what's wrong with American politics". You'd think "ah, good, they are at least coming around to the idea that we shouldn't be talking in glowing terms about this cunt". Nope. It was a piece about how the eulogy demonstrated that McCain appealed to both parties and how we need more of that.

Absolute pile of fucks.

btw CNN is largely to blame for Trump.

manticore

It's absolutely possible to despise CNN, MSNBC and the rest without supporting Trump calling them 'enemies of the the people'. Trump has talked in the past about how they really love him, they love covering him, and he's right, they do.They'll show his empty podium to get viewers for Christ's sake.

https://www.newsweek.com/papadopulos-trump-approved-when-meeting-putin-was-proposed-ahead-2016-1100898

QuoteFormer campaign adviser George Papadopoulos claims Donald Trump supported his proposal of a meeting with Russia's President Vladimir Putin ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy aide to Trump's campaign, has pled guilty to misleading FBI agents probing allegations of collusion between Russia and Trump officials.

In a court filing made late Friday, his legal team argue their client should not serve a prison sentence for misleading investigators. They claim that Papadopoulos proposed a meeting with Putin in a March 31, 2016, meeting with Trump and senior campaign officials, including future attorney general and then senator Jeff Sessions.

"While some in the room rebuffed George's offer, Mr. Trump nodded with approval and deferred to Mr. Sessions who appeared to like the idea and stated that the campaign should look into it. George's giddiness over Mr. Trump's recognition was prominent during the days that followed," Papadopoulos' lawyers wrote, reported the Associated Press.

In testimony to Congress, Sessions has claimed that he "pushed back" against a proposed meeting between Trump and Putin.

Papadopoulos was hired by the Trump campaign in March 2016, and traveled to the U.K., where he met a professor who told him that Russia had "dirt" on Democrat presidential contender Hillary Clinton, and introduced him to Russian officials.

Dog Botherer

In semi-related news, the wife has had to pretty much break contact with about half of her extended family over Trump shit. They're fully on board the Trump train, constantly posting massively racist MAGA shit on Facebook and shitting their pants every time one of their sensible relatives posts anything that contradicts their world view. Trump was in town recently, and it had gotten them all fired up, they've been hooting and hollering about it for days. Yesterday it came to a head when some cousin called Trump a racist and the mental side of the family proceeded to freak the fuck out, telling her to delete the post, that Trump wasn't racist, that he was better than Obama, that he was gonna MAGA and she was stupid and dumb and didn't understand. Within a couple of hours people were being blocked, statuses about "fake friends" were coming thick and fast, just mad, dumb shit.

My wife didn't get involved, but we've resolved to basically completely avoid everyone in her family apart from her parents and a couple of the sensible ones from now til eternity. I feel like this is a relatively common story across the USA, but I guess in a way we can thank Trump for weeding out the deranged, hopeless cases in our families who we need to cut out of our lives.

kngen

I've lost count of the stories I've been told by friends of heated arguments at family gatherings when the grandfather, uncle etc is challenged on his Trump cheerleading, and the party ends up with an old white man stomping off to his room like a petulant teenager. It's like the grumpy old white Americans have got their very own teen idol, but have a fit when everyone tells them that he doesn't actually sing on his records, and it's all an act.

The post-midterms Thanksgiving gatherings should be fun. I'm especially looking forward to dealing my addled father-in-law who, on showing his 'Semper Fi' Marines tattoo to my 6-year-old daughter (he's a Vietnam vet), said he got it for 'killing Muslims in Iraq.' Yep, that's going to be a real treat, esp if this 'Blue Wave' actually materialises.

Ben Garrison in fine form. Especially like the little dog turd on top with needles stuck in it.

ajsmith2

Had to read his annotation to work out thats supposed to be Zuckerberg and Twitter Jack steering the ship. I'd have guessed Danny Kaye and Osama Bin Laden.

Alberon

Not quite sure it's giving the message Garrison intends. Trump is a modern King Canute with an impotent little sign about to be destroyed by a blue tsunami.

What does 'beach closed' mean? Trump's cancelling the elections?

Garrison is hardly Brant, is he?

Why is there a shoe in the bottom right corner on its own? And why does the twitter head have a ring through his nose?

The shoe is supposed to be Hillary's. It's a recurring injoke/Easter Egg of Garrisons to show Hillary losing a shoe, or hiding her lost shoe somewhere in his cartoons for his fans to enjoy spotting. I believe it originated in the 'Illary' video from 2 years ago where she was shown collapsing and getting bundled in a limo, apparently leaving one of her shoes on the pavement (opinion is divided as to whether it really was her shoe). Jacks bullring nose, no fucking idea.

Best part of that is the incongruous "more taxes" thrown in there. He just can't help himself.

Fambo Number Mive

Is he seriously claiming Sanders is a communist?

If conservatives are locked in a control room with Pyramid Person, why doesn't Trump rescue them instead of putting up a sign?

Ohhhh was that Bernie? Genuinely didn't recognize him.

That has to up there with the highest amount of ham fisted symbolism he's crammed into one single cartoon yet.
