Why's that then?

He's emerged from the current shambles of Corbyn's Labour party as one of very few MPs with a shred of plausibility.  He is a follower of logic, rather than rhetoric, or pure idealism.  I also respect the fact that he's had a distinguished career outside of politics, regarded as one of the brightest lawyers of his generation.

I'm wondering why you won't vote for a party that has Keir Starmer on the front bench unless he becomes the leader, particularly since Starmer is responsible for disseminating the party's stance on Brexit.

Because unfortunately the party is led by an incompetent person imo.

The question was "who don't you think is a wally", not who is the leader of the opposition.  Do keep up at the back!

Actually we'd moved past that, hadn't we?  Next question was why do you think he, exceptionally, is not a wally?

Funcrusher

Corbyn has managed to maintain a socialist position in the face of right wing press attacks and stand up to utter lies about his supposed anti-semitism - what a shambles.

pancreas

Starmer has crafted the party's Brexit position together with Corbyn and the rest of the leadership. If you think the party's position is unclear, then it is as much Starmer as anyone else who is to blame.

Corbyn has to his name the rather more remarkable achievement of increasing Labour's vote by the largest amount since 1945. But as you say, he's probably incompetent.

Is the same true of May and the Conservatives, since 1979?

I don't really give a shit about him increasing Labour's vote tbh.  I do give a shit about him going on holiday during the EU Referendum campaign though.

How much of the UKIP vote did they get?

But, actually—can we not do this?

Yup.

If you think that the latter is more important than the former then you're an idiot. I enjoy Dashiell Hammet, particularly 'The Maltese Falcon'.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

You labelled him incompetent but as Labour leader that's the primary measure of competence he can display, and he did it.

Which party do you currently see yourself voting for at a general election, Mrs Wogan? If not Labour under Corbyn, which party now most closely resembles the values you liked about Labour pre-Corbyn?

I was wondering that very thing myself. If you're not intending to 'ignore Corbyn' by not voting, who will you vote for?

Just looked on Twitter and was notified of a post from April 2017 by some shithead writing under a pseudonym who has 13.5k followers and posts loads and loads of pro-Corbyn and pro-Palestinian stuff. The post is a piece of holocaust denial:

QuoteI think there were a number of holocausts. 1) Nazi murders of 25m Soviet citizens 2) Nazi murders of 270k Jewish people Why do you ask?

He goes on to try to justify it as 'UN sponsored research'. If it was just some random twitter imbecile I would have ignored it but he has a fair amount of followers and I think is very possibly not legit. I reported him as have others and hope he gets banned sorry about free speech and everything biggy but you've got to be pragmatic sometimes I think.

what does that have to do with corbyn

It's the sort of thing that's used to attack the Labour Party. I don't like twitter much but if you look on it there are a whole load of people who believe the Labour anti-semitism smear and for some reason twitter highlighted that post out to me so they probably have to others.

Maybe a real person, maybe disinformation, but it has to be stopped either way.

Love this article. He makes it very clear to the reader right at the beginning that the reason his anti-Corbynism is down to his social group's conservative Blairite leanings, but doesn't seem to have realised it himself.  What a dope.

Twed

lol, same cunt wrote McCain's Sunday Times obit.

If you won't vote Labour because Corbyn is pompous then there's a hell of a lot more wrong with you than I can help rectify.

Wanting to not lose the NHS forever through a third term with the Tories appears to be quite a niche concern when you realise how many people are bothered by Corbyn's face not being quite symmetrical.

This poster seems a bit pompous to me!

biggytitbo

In what kind of dystopian nightmare world would John McCain be a hero and warrior for peace and Jeremy Corbyn a racist and terrorist sympathizer?

Buelligan

Well babe, that's the very world a lot of people dropped out of you're talking about there.  It's a big reason why people sack it all off and go and live in a cave somewhere.

biggytitbo

Regardless of what you thought of his politics, Osama Bin Laden was a loyal servant and warrior for peace who embodied virtues so often lacking in politicians, his legacy represents an unparalleled example of human decency. #RIPOsama

biggytitbo

I notice Theresa May has given a public eulogy to McCain but Corby hasn't. What a monster!

TrenterPercenter

regarding that NYT piece - has anyone noticed it is pretty much the same article as the Hattestone one.

it's just complete hackery.

biggytitbo

Corbyns raised enough red flags that the CIA are getting involved now - he's been getting quite a bit of American coverage the last few weeks when normally they wouldn't give a shit.

ZoyzaSorris

Oh, I've no doubt the US security services are as heavily involved in any plans to ensure Corbyn never becomes prime minister, or will be assaulted from all sides if he does, as ours are. Left wing policies at home are one thing - and certain to be attacked mercilessly. But anything that threatens the vastly enriching engines of infinite war that have their tentacles firmly latched into the capitals of every NATO country will be destroyed one way or another.

Buelligan

I'm afraid I think this is true.  I wonder what might happen if Corbyn lives to form a government in his image and is then deposed.  Revolution?  The Brits aren't terribly good at that are they.

What then?

Reloaded and then Revolutions, but both will be arse (in a bad way).

You'll probably say yes without even thinking about it but I wonder if they render the anuses in the Matrix? Considering they have to render out millions of avatars, I imagine the could save a huge amount of RAM and CPU time by not drawing the anus at all, or at the very least doing it as a low count polygon with a very basic texture.
