It's a real shame this is the only film to really give Belucci's arse a good bit of exposure. Her breasts everyone talks about but her mud flaps? They never get a look in.

But on a serious note. The rape itself is amazingly affecting mostly due to the sheer length and Belucci's pleading. The part where she tries to crawl away backwards she looks like something from Ringu. But the beating immediately afterwards is just laughably over the top. With the guy giggling like the fucking joker.

I understand the idea of the film and what it tries to achieve. But the sheer comical over the top unprovoked evilness of the central act just undermines it for me.

The club scenes have a horrible low-level frequency embedded into the sound design, in order to make the viewer feel queasy and disquieted, which is some real attention to detail in the wrongun stakes.

Not sure we need to discuss the "mudflaps" of an actress in this film about a rape, tbh.

Definitely one of the best onscreen rapes - Tim Robey, The Telegraph

Shit Good Nose

Not even the best rape in the Beatles.

itsfredtitmus

at least Jorg Buttgereit is honest about what he's putting up on the screen

et Baise-moi?

Probably the most harrowing rape scene in history - the opening double rape one. Lot's of blood. Know they were both porn actresses - rip wotserface, but yeah. Nasty,

I've seen this, Carne and I Stand Alone. I thought they were all fairly trashy and I didn't get any of this vaunted 'impact' from them.

I think people give Gaspo a lot of leeway because he is a Certified Intellectual and that means we are all supposed to stroke our chins over whatever he shits out. Even when it is just shit. If someone like Tom Six produced this same content, everyone would be rolling their eyes wearily.

By the way - have you seen Gaspo's music video, Love In Motion? Proper art, that. Not in the slightest bit creepy, not at all.

The film's most shocking moment is that no-one performs a functionality check on the Fire Extinguisher afterwards.  To show such blatant disregard for fire safety on screen like that is vulgar and irresponsible

No but I've seen this:

Look at his eyes. His kind, trustworthy eyes.

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

That's spooky. His eyes are so striking looking, it's almost like I cant even see them.
Or his face
Or him

I can't see anything. It's like he's perfected the art of moving so slowly, he becomes invisible.

Bloody webp, isn't it. Google's new image format that nobody asked for and nobody needs, but that they've somehow persuaded some websites to use thus breaking them in browsers that aren't Chrome.

mothman

It's certainly making it harder to find images that work.

So his new one, Climax, features one really simple but amazing dance sequence and a good deal of decent floaty nausea inducing direction. Not much else to it though.

More than half the audience walked out.

Also, fuck you Vue for actually starting a film on time for once. I usually arrive a half hour late so I don't have to sit through short films about Lloyds bank and Lidl and whatever else, only went in on time because I had nothing better to do.
If there's one thing I've learned from six months of free Vue cinema tickets, it's that I'd never ever ever pay for a ticket with them.

olliebean

According to the IMDb, "Climax was shot with only a 5 page long script."

Lisa Jesusandmarychain

I don't want to take a stance opposing this film. It would be such an anti- climax.

Decent bit of semi improvised dialogue in it for sure, by a bunch of non actors...

One page has a line on it saying "Interior: People dance"

Is it in Colo(u)r?

Disgusted that I got this.

Hopefully Arrow get the bluray out nice and quickly, no chance I'll get to a cinema for this.
