They absolutely are, they've all got janky sub-Tomb-Raider wall/ledge climbing, out of place jumping puzzles and dodgy controls, the hallmarks of platformers.

Just found out about Mibilibi's Quest. A classic mega man inspired action platformer that goes in unexpected directions. Its also free (the paid version just includes a bossfight and ultra hard mode).

This thread made me fire up MAME and play Wardner. Cracking platformer, played it in the arcade back in the day and still have muscle memory for a lot of the levels. Exact platforming, lots of memorizing but not unfair and cool/cute D & D/hobbits graphics and vibes.
