There's stuff off Spleen and Ideal and Within the Realm of a Dying Sun by Dead Can Dance that would make excellent incidental music, I reckon, e.g.:

Enigma Of The Absolute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzhr3Hg-XlI (approach to the evil genius's artificial island lair)

Advent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx0w9E29qTU (underwater pursuit)

In The Wake Of Adversity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puUNIv6OXHw (approach to the evil genius's space station)

The Cardinal Sin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UdZXvLV440 (breeching the perimeter security fence and planting the timebombs)

Harpo Speaks

What about 'Snake Eater' from the Metal Gear Solid 3 soundtrack?

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

Thrillseeker by The Divine Comedy is possibly a bit too arch to be a genuine Bond theme, but the influence is clear.

I don't actually know their stuff beyond what I've heard incidentally, but based on that, Muse strike me as the types to have cranked out at least one Bondalike song in their time?

louis armstrong... scott walker... paul mccartney.... chris cornell....

matt bellamy?  if it would achieve nothing else, it would correspond neatly with the declining standards of the bond franchise.

Scott Walker did a Bond theme?

in my head, apparently. 'you only live twice'.

would've been terrific, wouldn't it?

bgmnts

That song that plays in the porno cinema in The Departed.

Scott Walker did a Bond theme?

Almost, he performed a David Arnold original "Only Myself To Blame" on the soundtrack of The World Is Not Enough.

Speaking of Noel Scott Engel, I reckon "Man From Reno" could make a great Bond theme if you really Barry'd it up with some strings and brass.

I think Scott Walker could have done a stonking cover of Diamonds Are Forever.

Dr Rock

Nite Flights?

I like that many of these suggestions imply an imaginary, cooler or different style Bond film.

Radiohead recorded two songs for Spectre but both were rejected.

Man of War

Spectre

I think Man of War is bland and wishy-washy, it somehow sounds like their hearts weren't in it, but Spectre is beautiful and unique and I can't believe they chose that thuddingly boring Sam Smith song over it.

I have extremely mixed feelings about Muse but I think there is lots to like about Supremacy, a song so Bondlike it even quotes the Bond theme in the verses. But it might be too cartoonish and plastic for Bond, really, especially modern Bond.

I do like that riff though. Big dumb stonking riff.

Delirious by Susanne Sundfør. Lock the thread.

yes. yes & thrice yes.

I don't care what anyone says, I fucking love that movie, & the music is no small part in that.

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

Elvis should've done a Bond theme. This is the closest he ever got.

I always thought that Best Of Both Worlds from Scott 2 sounded like it could have been a Bond theme. The lyrics vaguely fit, anyway.

nice. I wonder if his being american &/or elvis might've scuppered it though.

Given we were *this* close to having a Bond theme sung by Johnny Mathis, I doubt it'd have been an obstacle.

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

I don't know if Elvis was ever asked to sing a Bond theme, but if he was then I can imagine the Colonel scaring the producers off by asking for an exorbitant fee.

Nancy Sinatra sang You Only Live Twice, as we all know, but Summer Wine, one of her duets with Lee Hazlewood, is incredibly Bond-like, so much so it even quotes the Bond theme towards the end.

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

Bjork almost recorded a Bond theme with Play Dead from the '90s crime drama The Young Americans. She co-wrote it with Jah Wobble and David Arnold, who presumably gave it much of its Bondian grandeur.

I've never seen The Young Americans, it might be a cracking film for all I know, but they should've saved Play Dead for a Bond film instead.

Sebastian Cobb

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

Initials B.B. by Serge Gainsbourg is very Bond-esque.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPOYtC1n5bE

Gainsbourg would've been a great Bond villain - a louche, pissed, chain-smoking Frenchman who tries to take over the world by shagging it to death.

Bachelorette is the most obvious Bjork Bond song, isn't it?

All Is Full Of Love. Once upon a time would have said it was too leftfield, but after Madonna's and Sam Smith's, anything goes.
