Rob Newman returned to Radio 4 last Thursday at 6:30pm with the first episode of his new 4 part series tackling philosophy.

It was more about dogma and perceived 'facts' that people believe with regards to class and the education system in episode 1.

It was the first of these that I haven't already seen the preceding stage show and I found it to be quite entertaining on my commute.

I'm assuming it's on I player for a few more days.

Way better than anything else I've heard for ages  in that slot on R4, but that's a given.

It could be the best radio comedy in the world. The second coming of Round the Horne, The Day Today and The 99p Challenge rolled into one. It would still have that fucking awful title.

I quite liked the show, mind. These types of comedy lectures are often kind of "Wow - I really *learned* something!", if they're not "Wow... that was all a bit obvious" They're really often not very funny. So he's making some headway there, at least.

Quite liked the first episode. I know Rob Newman's stuff now is half comedy half lecture (some would say that's generous) but it was very clever Radio 4 stuff. The "i'm made up; not in the sense of fictitious but happy" line made me chuckle.

Had no idea about this Cyril Burt character but it was interesting. Although any kind of lecture/show/series of arguments leaning towards a socialist/left wing ideas always leave me with a small, lingering depression as its such an unwinnable battle. Funny and interesting, all in all, though.

Excited for episode two.

We're going to see him in a week or so.  He's playing the Aberystwyth Comedy Festival.  To say that I'm looking forward to it would be an understatement.

Envious.

Episodes 2 and 3 were also veey good. Although episode 3 was slightly less good.

Finding this more listenable than his previous series - I think probably because I'm more interested in the subject matter - but nevertheless he's increasingly grating on me as the weeks go by.

Anyone know if there's a way of downloading these episodes rather than having to stream them?

Has anyone got a copy of the first episode (The Inheritance)? I nearly forgot about this series and it's slipped from iPlayer.

I too would love copies of these once the run has finished.

NoSleep

It's finished now; only four episodes (and I think only the last two are now available).

If anyone could hook a foreigner up with these eps, it'd be much appreciated.

Another foreigner here who missed out, but would love mp3s if available!
