I suspect I can't be the only one on here watching Hugo Blick's new drama.

Ashby is a great character... though maybe I'm inclined to like her as she seems to be just about the only character not in on a post-imperialist global conspiracy that everyone else in the show seems privy to! Michaela Coel is very good at seeming simultaneously wholly emotionally open and completely emotionally closed off. Blick seems to like his paradoxical characters!

I've just watched the first one of these. I'm intrigued and will watch the rest.

I'm surprised there's been no other replies to this thread. We like Hugo Blick round these parts, don't we?

I would have hoped so!

Thanks for making me aware of this - had no idea there was a new Hugo Blick show out. Absolutely loved Shadow Line and Honourable Woman so will go into this with high hopes.

In the last ep you had John Goodman referencing Jerry Seinfeld and Garry Shandling! I wonder if Blick is making some obscure reference to BBC2's late night double bills from the late 90s.

Also in the (opening) credits to the last episode you had 'director of animation' listed. I don't think I've ever seen that for a drama before. Was it (the animation) effective or indulgent? It's different I'll give it that.

Wow, found Shadow Line and Honourable Woman through this site and had no idea Blick had a new drama. Is this the one some poor stunt guy died in the making of? I vaguely recall some bleak headlines about a year ago on the subject.

Might let the episodes stack up a bit before diving in...

Fucking hell, the first 10 minutes of episode two was pretty grim. This is good stuff but not exactly an easy watch.

Johnny Yesno

Blimey! Things really got moving in episode 3. Looking forward to the finale.

I liked it.

About half way through episode 4 and Hugo Blick has shown up as the lawyer Blake Gaines. Ooh, he's eeeeville! :-D

Johnny Yesno

Oh cool. For some reason, I thought this was going to be a four-parter, but there's still more to come.

Just watched episode 5. This gets better as it goes on. Is no one else watching? gout?

I certainly still am! It's gotten pretty intense!

I'm not a big TV watcher so at the moment I'm just watching this and the 'No-End House' season of Channel Zero.

Any thoughts on the secret Michael et al. are hiding?

garbed_attic

I really liked the segment of animation and general willingness towards experimentation in the last episode.

Yes, I'm only watching two things at the moment too. I'm glad this is one of them.

Not really, but it's more significant than nailing Ganimana, it seems. Illegal arms trade, perhaps? France and the UK making the most of a long standing rivalry to shift units? Did Gaines puke in his bin because he discovered what it was?

There's some good atmos in there. The scene with Ganimana was unsettling. What did he mean by looking at his watch and telling Kate she was safe now? Was the other appointment a trap? Is the chap she was going to meet now dead?
