One of mine was this. The song was Blame it on the Bassline, by Norman Cook featuring MC Wildski, a hit in 1989. I liked the song, and found the video enjoyably wacky. I was intrigued by that little inset box in the bottom right with that man in the bow tie pulling weird faces and repeating the refrain 'come on now.'

Always liked this Housemartins video:

Best way of introducing a new band member anyway.

And since I've mentioned Bad Cover Version by Pulp elsewhere. Every time I watch this a different bit amuses me.

Might be my favourite music video.
Such a simple idea, but brilliantly executed.

And of course they kept up the 'Hugh in a sack' gag for all their singles after that.

That lesbian punk band and that one video with them dressed as nuns having a big orgy.

Big Black Wet Asses 1 but with Let It Be playing on your walkman.

The 12 year old me was a huge fan of that.
I can still see its appeal.

Wide Boy by Godley And Creme is fantastic.

Loads of brilliant edits from moving images to still photographs.

The video for Haggard Cat's 'Bone Shaker' shows what can be done with a bit of imagination, a few friends and a shitload of cardboard.

Always loved G&C's promo for Howard Jones 'Life In One Day'. Avant-garde!

There's a new 'comedy things/clichés wot I hate/ annoy me' thread started every fortnight in Comedy Chat and has been since 2001. CaB would turn into a pillar of salt should this ritual ever cease.

Right, I'm off to post a new thread about 'Scary music'...Frankie Teardrop, The Boiler...the theme from Picture Box... etc, as there hasn't been one since last week.

Back in the knife drawer, Ms Sharp!

Yeah, I was blown away by this when I first saw it, and still am. It should be much more famous in the history of music video I think. I know it will prob look kind of creaky to some, but I find the fact that they do those edits using real blown up photos to be an insane kind of genius.

Mark my words, those enlightening souls who have trouble not reiterating some don't like Shiny Happy People and Eiffel 65's 'Blue' will surely have their itch scratched a few times before hard brexit comes into effect

Yep, total genius... I can watch this one over and over. The time it must have taken to position the enlarged photographs to sync with the video frames is a wonder to behold.

On a technicality, that was music videos whereas this is specifically pop.

And yes, in my mind, "pop" was said with the same sneering emphasis of barely hidden disgust Nicholas Wichell used to give the phrase "the pop singer Michael Jackson".

The video for LSD's (the supergroup project of Labrinth, Sia and Diplo) Thunderclouds is amazing. like a live-action Studio Ghibli short. Needless to say Sia only appears (apart from in puppet form), but her avatar Maddie Ziegler returns with more Ryan Heffington choreography. I could happily watch a full-length film of this.
