That's right, your favourite howling psychobilly Elvis has returned after six years off the radar with his new project, DSM IV.

I fuckin' loved TEMB-LD (except the second album which is largely not that good - I far prefer the snarling mental 25 minute assault of Horse of the Dog) and part of that appeal is McKnight's charged, scorching voice, breaking effortlessly from a sultry Nick Cave croon to an agonised scream. Just great. So, what have we got here then?

Well, admittedly he's now sporting a thick moustache and a grandad jumper and the rest of the band look no less hipster-by-numbers than he, and the debut song is about Donald Trump or whatever which would ordinarily leave me very cold, but... I really like this. It's got enough variation in the guitar work, and the raw acid techno beat makes for something which I reckon would be a hell of a lot of fun to see live. Plus, Guy sounds as good as ever here, so that's a big plus for me.

Whaddya reckon, gang?

It's a bit minimalist sonically - it could do with more bass - but I rather like that. As miffed as I was when Eighties Matchbox called it quits after a corking third album, it's good to see that he's not just doing the same thing as before.

He had the 'tache back in 2010, but didn't look like the bastard offspring of Paul Calf and Wayne Slob.
