Ah, gotcha. Sorry, didn't realise that you were actually attending the festival. Do you know what Brigstocke has chosen to talk about? Hopefully he'll tackle whatever it is in an agreeable and non-annoying way. Mind you, I wouldn't want to spend an hour in a tent with Marcus Brigstocke either...
I don't think even his data self does.

DrGreggles

His choice of show could be good, and there's a chance he could talk about 'Sorry, I've Got No Head' too, so it might be OK.

DrGreggles

New episode imminent with Laurence Rickard from Horrible Histories and that.

Spoiler: He's doing Life of Brian

I figured it would be that from the arseholes on Twitter who caused a fuss last week.

bobloblaw

i'm sure it'll be an interesting take but I do think the podcast is close to exhausting that particular furrow now and should ask guests to look beyond that particular act in their choices

I think they're so focused on specifics that they're still managing to find interesting things to say even when the creators have been dealt with before.

Very excited about this week's episode

They're covering Bachelor Boys

DrGreggles

Ooh, that was pretty much my bible when I was a kid!

forgive me if this comes out rude but does anyone actually expend any energy avoiding spoilers, likely lads style, about which comedy show/book/film etc these lot are covering on their next episode?

I do just out of politeness really.

olliebean

It's not really a spoiler situation, is it? I mean it's right there in the episode title.

DrGreggles

That book was the only reason I knew who John Noakes was.

Rolf Lundgren

Started getting in these because of this thread and they're really good. Very thoughtful and funny, I find myself enjoying more the ones that I don't anything about. My only complaint would be Barunka O'Shaughnessy kept mispronouncing Shaun Micallef's name. Now off to watch Ellen DeGeneres' 1990 stand up special.

kidsick5000

A nice impromptu tribute to Rutger Hauer this week too

Tend to enjoy the ones I am not overly familiar with as well. Although also love though that one of my over familiar pieces; "The Soundtrack to the Film of Monty Python's Holy Grail" got an episode early.
I did try to get through a short podcast about the Fenian uprising in Canada (Not Rule of Three related). Was annoying that they kept mispronouncing Fenian's. Even more so when they had to say it about 100 times in around 15 minutes. One thing I am grateful to those Glasgow Rangers fans is that they do pronounce that word right.

What was this?

They tweeted to announce the show was coming back and they included a gif from Life of Brian of Chris Langham laughing. They immediately got jumped on for "Promoting Chris Langham".

And to think that they say Twitter is full of cunts!

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

I like The Muppet Show.

OH DO YOU NOW? THE SAME MUPPET SHOW THAT HIRED CHRIS LANGHAM AS A WRITER? SO YOU THINK IT'S FINE TO PROMOTE THE WORK OF A PAEDOPHILE??

I like Not the Nine O' Clock News.

OH DO YOU NOW? THE SAME NOT THE NINE O' CLOCK NEWS THAT FEATURED CHRIS LANGHAM IN ITS FIRST SERIES? SO YOU THINK IT'S FINE TO PROMOTE THE WORK OF A PAEDOPHILE??

I like People Like Us.

OH DO YOU NOW? THE SAME PEOPLE LIKE US THAT STARRED CHRIS LANGHAM? SO YOU THINK IT'S FINE TO PROMOTE THE WORK OF A PAEDOPHILE??

I like The Thick Of It.

OH DO YOU NOW? THE SAME THE THICK OF IT THAT FEATURED CHRIS LANGHAM IN A PROMINENT ROLE? SO YOU THINK IT'S FINE TO PROMOTE THE WORK OF A PAEDOPHILE??

I like Help.

OH DO YOU NOW? THE SAME HELP CO-WRITTEN BY AND CO-STARRING CHRIS LANGHAM? THE SERIES HE USED AS AN EXCUSE FOR DOWNLOADING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY? SO YOU THINK IT'S FINE TO PROMOTE THE WORK OF A PAEDOPHILE??

That's Twitter, that is.

DrGreggles

My iTunes randomly threw up 'Hello Hello I'm Back Again'* by Gary Glitter the other day.
Weirdly my first thought was how much sharing that information on Twitter would upset the masses.

Then I remembered that I have no followers...

*admit it, it's a banger

It is, it's a great song. There was that episode of Chart Music where Al mentions he used Gary Glitter in a pub quiz and someone kicked off, so even the mention of his name will set off some arsehole.

The thing with the Langham gif is that outside of comedy fan circles I think a lot of people won't even be aware who he is now and quite a few of the people who do remember him won't recognise the gif is him so it felt like someone getting outraged for the sake of being outraged.

Twitter's mission statement

kidsick5000

I have a feeling, if I listen to podcasts last thing at night and leave them on autoplay – especially with Rule Of Three because it a very conversational podcast – I think I'm joining in in my sleep.

Anyone else? No? Just me then... ah well.

DrGreggles

New episode!

Pointless spoiler:
Robert Popper on Fawlty Towers: The Hotel Inspectors

lankyguy95

An hour of conversation about Fawlty Towers is automatically great.

Gurke and Hare

I've just caught up with this thread, and I was at Latitude too - I walked past the podcast tent while this was being recorded, and his chosen show is The Muppet Show (written by Chris Langham) - I feel the same about him as others here seem to but he was perfectly unannoying - he clearly loves it and was just enjoying talking about it.

EOLAN

Latest one on pointless spoiler: Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion

Very happy and enjoyed this. Only caught the item being discussed once but may have a reread/rewatch/relisten/rethink of it.

popcorn

Jonny Greenwood said this was his favourite podcast in the Times today, I hope Adam Buxton isn't too upset.

new one - Jack Docherty on Ivor Cutler - is SO GOOD.

Sin Agog

Agreed.  Best Ivor Cutler 'scussion I've ever heard.  That Romy & Michelle one from a few weeks ago was also great, albeit with about as different a subject as I can imagine.  Well...actually, I guess they're both about people who never grew up and learnt to embrace that fact.
