Tetris Effect

I've now played four of six areas and this is up there with anything I've ever played, full stop. I've never really been a big Tetris guy except burning the batteries on a borrowed GB thirty years ago. This is so spectacular, though, and so consuming...Rez cunt knocked it out the park.

Literally couldn't sleep til about 3am after playing this. I kept having weird visual hallucinations and ended up nearly freaking out. Absolutely wrecked now in the office still seeing mad shapes and clicking and slotting. I really can't wait to try it in VR. Gonna have a breakdown most likely.

I bet you didn't. I bet you just sit there playing it straight-faced and in total silence.

That doesn't preclude what he said though.

On that fire level with the worhsippers are they singing "why are you farting?"

This was after when I was in bed. At the time, I was wide eyed either with a grin or gob agog. It's amazing.

I'll have to listen properly. That one freaked me out. I'm quite scared of the devil and once it got going and they're chanting like fuck and fanning the flames, I literally shit myself.

kittens

imagine spending 30 quid on tetris

kittens

people say tetris is good, but it's not, it's shit &  its boring.

Timothy

This game is amazing. Especially in VR

Is it a forever PS4 exclusive or will it come out on a platform people own eventually?

absolutely shattered mind here; fucked by nintendo

Twed

Imagine a world where Tetris came out on a Nintendo system

It defies logic!

madhair60

One in three Westerners owns a PS4

Can we please stick with a sample size of "just me", please.

One hour and I'll be strapped into this bad bitch until bed. Seven hours of Tetris just to see what happens.

The genius (and I mean genius) of Tetris Effect is the dynamism and synchronicity of the music and visuals. Every movement and rotation, pretty much, adds to the soundtrack or imagery or modifies it in some way that somehow feels like it's not only a part of the soundtrack but that you're 'playing' the soundtrack and also the visuals. It's beyond a 'flow state' kind of relaxation and focus.

So it's basically Lumines, but Tetris?

You know it's by the Lumines guy, right?

This is basically a mix of Tetris, Lumines and Rez and cosmic space elfs.

I have to say  though, it's so so far beyond Lumines, though. It's more like Area X in Rez Infinite but with much better, much more interesting visuals and equally great music.

Bought it. Completed Journey Mode (although stage 6 and finale I did in beginners difficulty). I like it, dunno if its worth £35 without VR though. I'm also not playing with headphones, which probably dulls the feeling a bit. Shall play plenty more outside Journey Mode though.

Over all good music, but I thought a couple in stage 6 were rubbish.

TIAL

I'm loving this, completely rubbish at Tetris but the way it interacts with the sound has drawn me in. I've also just recently purchased some of the Sony Gold headphones which this and Red Dead are great showcases for - can't imagine it being as good using just my TV speakers.

I tried dialling it down to Easy tonight so I could try and get through the stages, but it didn't feel quite the same. Reckon I'll have to go slightly mad on Medium to get fully in to it rather than just blasting through.

I've just finished it myself. The whole thing is like a love letter to creation, the universe and humanity. Absolutely stunning. Must be played with headphones in the dark. It adds so much.

Yeah but you said that about Pandemonium 2.

Thursday

Don't pretend you didn't try and knock one out to Nikki from Pandemonium 2 when you were 12.

Tetris is way sexier than Pandemonium. In fact it's probably the most pornographic game ever made.

Beat Stage 6 on Normal (earning a D...), but Jesus Stage 7 I just can't do. After 60 rows it goes up to speed 13, how the heck do people manage it?! The most I got up to was 83 before dying. I'm glad I like the song, I've heard it enough times.

Just bang out a few fuckin Tetrises mate. Easy.

Oh, I did it on beginner and had an aneurysm.

Got PSVR again this evening, great Black Friday deal. I was whooping and laughing like a spoilt bastard at this. I think I can saying that it's amazing not in VR and equally amazing for different reasons in VR. I reckon I'd play it sometimes in and sometimes out of VR. It's just a banging game.
