Yes Lawd!

Anderson .Paak, raspy-voiced West Coast singer/rapper with the best teeth in the game, is back with the follow-up to his incredible 2016 album Malibu. I've only given it a couple of spins (streams) so far, and while it's not as immediately appealing as Malibu, it still sounds reaaaally good.

Definitely more of a hip-hop vibe to the production, rather than the funkiness of Malibu and Venice, which is probably to be expected with Dr Dre all over this thing (there's also an awkward sex skit, as if the Dre influence wasn't already obvious). It's less interesting lyrically and thematically than his previous albums too. But as I said, it SOUNDS fantastic. The bass and drums on this thing are mind melting - certainly meant to be played at high volume on good speakers.

Oh, and stellar guest verses from Q Tip and Pusha T.

YES. Love this dude. His set at Glastonbury last year was amazing to witness.

Great album, listening now. Can feel Dre's magic all over it. Wish Dre would do that with Bilal. That would be a classic.

Malibu is one of those albums where I know I'd have loved it if it was 15 minutes shorter but instead it's just an album I've never gotten through.

This album should have been a bit shorter, but overall very enjoyable. That road head skit seemed so out of place, like it should be on an old D12 album.

Yeah, that whole "Headlow" song is a bit cringeworthy.

It's an enjoyable album, but never reaches the heights of Malibu or Venice sadly.

I enjoyed it on the first couple of listens but I haven't listened to it since. Feel like it's been done before and better.

For me it gets better as it proceeds.  The last two tracks where it goes Full Stevie are my favourites.
