Didn't anyone else get told never to trust a man with a first name for a last name? This advice specified men too, so someone like Vicki Michele is totally trustworthy or whatever.

I've got a first name for a last name and yes it is totally true. I can't be trusted.

Or can I?

I'd like to see him do one more big dramatic role before carking it. I was going to say Poirot but I've just seen John Malkovich is doing that with the BBC.

I was always taught that someone with two first names is a wrong 'un and ever to trust 'em.  The evidence in addition:

Chris Martin.
John Leslie.
Moby Dick.
Paul Nicholas.

Adolf Hitler

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

Boutros Boutros Ghali must have been an absolute cunt then, with his three.

Neville Neville.

To the tune of David Bowie's Rebel Rebel.

Neville Neville
You play in defence
Neville Neville
Your skills are immense
Neville Neville
You never play bad
Neville Neville
It's the name of your dad

poodlefaker

Does anyone remember A Sharp Intake of Breath? It was my dad's favourite.

Imagine if Jim Broadbent had got the part of Delbuoy, eh?  Or Tom Baker, he was in the running. And Frances de la Tour.

Lesley Joseph - two first names, one a lady's and one a man's. What does that make her, then?

Donald Jason now old enough to play smaller uncle Albert

Lisa Jesusandmarychain

" Prison Biscuits " is a fucking great poster name.

Shame David Jason never got noticed by Hollywood.

He should've been Alfred in the new Batman films.

I do have one personal dream role for him though. I want him to play Harry Beale. The unseen brother of Pauline Fowler and Pete Beale on EastEnders.

Oh mate. I'd give anything to see him giving Ian Beale a dressing down. Or telling Phil Mitchell to go fuck himself.

Bazooka

He was great in David Jason and the Argonauts.

I had a tenner bet with a pal, about a decade ago, that when Jason goes he'll get a full state funeral. Seems unlikely now but back then he seemed a minor royal.

Queneau

A really good character actor with a great sense of timing. Not much else to add, really.

Fantastic in Porterhouse Blue, downhill ever since IMHO. A Touch of Frost was clearly the result of an ideas meeting which went
'What's popular at the moment?'
'Morse'
'David Jason'
'OK, let's have something like Morse, only with David Jason in it'

Wasn't that personal protection he apparently needed whilst filming in public due to him fearing reprisals from victims' families?

The Inspector Frost books had been successful for a while before it was televised, and Jason doesn't really resemble the character in the books, so it probably was something like that.

(Morse in the books had some physical similarities to John Thaw and his TV character, but his penchant for pornographic books and mags didn't make it to the TV adaptations.)
