Does anyone else watch films on fast-forward?

I tend to, also on youtube, using the 10 second passer-cursor thing. I don't know, unless a film really grabs me, or an actor, Itend to pass through it and then stop every so often. I'm mainly a visual thinker.

Then again I have weird tastes in film. I like interesting sci-fi, horror, adventure, but have a trouble with social dramas, westerns, noir, that they just all seem the sme, regardless of quality.

I often do it watching films online, because the bandwidth, the attention of watching films online I think is different to on other screens.
Or am I just a sad gobshite with a golden voice?

Then again I often watch foreign films without subtitles and can follow them naturally. Things like tone of voice and so on.

I might sometimes put on something like John Wick or The Raid and just skip to the action scenes. Otherwise, no.

I watch most stuff with VLC media player and it has a playback speed setting that can be changed incrementally, so when I'm watching a lot of horror movies as part of my annual October Halloween marathon I sometimes speed the more boring ones up.  I also occasionally watch episodes of Home Improvement 45% slower if I'm not feeling prepared to deal with anything more intense than that.

Icehaven

No, but I did once watch a Youtube video of Bee Movie that speeds up every time a character said the word "bee". I think it ended up being about 10 minutes long altogether.

Small Man Big Horse

Never with films but occasionally with tv shows that I hate watch, though those are few and far between now that I'm no longer a stoner. The most recent time was the Rick Dies episode of The Walking Dead because I only tend to watch an episode a season these days when there's a lot of buzz about it, but watching it at normal speed was horrendously dull.

I've done it a few times towards the end of the film when I want to go to bed but in most cases when I'm too bored to watch it at normal pace I decide it's a crap film and turn it off.

Sometimes if a film has a side love interest for the main character; particularly if it is a poor actor then I may speed past it. Usually rewatch Michael Collins these days and skip all the scenes with Julia Roberts.

The Crank guys Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor said that they usually watch films at double speed (or possibly 1.5) when they were promoting that Ghost Rider sequel and I don't think they were joking.

I thought my mate was a cretin for doing this with the snooker, but this is next level.

I'VE HIT FAST FORWARD. LOOKS LIKE A SORT OF HARDCORE BENNY HILL

I used to do this for trashier shows like True Blood back when I used to squeeze telly into my lunch hour. Once your eyes and ears adapt to the speed, it's pretty much the same as watching the regular show.

I wouldn't do it to a really good series that I wanted to wallow in though.

I remember when Fantasia came out on VHS in the 90s, my little brother and I fast-forwarded through the whole tape wondering when the actual 'thing' was going to start.

That wasn't so much "watching" it, though.

Donald Trump notoriously does this, so you're in good company.

I actually watch Alvin & the Chipmunks in slow-motion so I can hear James Earl Jones' original vocal performance.

No. You're not "watching" the film, you're fast-forwarding it.

As to the thread's point of question; NO, YOU ABSOLUTE HEATHEN!

That obligatory denial out of the way; yes, sometimes but only if I'm very, very bored; or if it's a news report, regarding some terrible tragedy, involving dead kids or something, that's in desperate need of a bit of cheering up, via a flaying of limbs, in place of the splaying of limbs; or if I want my porn stars to go extra fast, like randy little Duracell bunny rabbits.  They go on and on and on...

Quite honestly, I fast-forward through most things in life, including life itself.  Makes you think.  Actually, no it doesn't.

nice to see you back, St_Eddie!

Psst!  I'm not really here.  Just ignore me.

Seriously though, thank you.  Good to see you too, my fine friend.

I've only watched one or two youtube videos that show you how to do things (like fix something on your phone or put curtains back up etc.) but by God if I ever need to watch another I'll be doing it on fast forward, they take so fecking long to get to the point. ''I'll show you what you actually want to do in half an hour or so, but first here's 29 interminable minutes of pointless background and detail you really don't need so I can show off my knowledge and enjoy the sound of my own voice first.'' Shut the f*** up and get to the useful bit you fillet.

Ah yes, I encounter that very often when I'm looking for help with Photoshop and the like. Generally, all I need to know is which menu to click on, but I have to wait around while the tutor in the video goes about making an entire project from scratch.

I assume they must get more ad revenue for waffling on, because they're certainly not being helpful.

Going so far as to fast forward through his favourite film, Kickboxer, apparently.
