I love Ruins

There I've said it. Listen to this stuff (and it's just the tip of the iceberg):

Znohjmo : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXJ9tey_DFc
Warrido : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IphSonS_abY
Kpalighoth : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSkwS3QTkLk
Stone Eater : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXsunu5bvDk

Wonderful isn't it? Best band in the world I reckon (for today anyway). It might be a controversial opinion but I prefer Japanese zeuhl (Ruins, Koenjihyakkei, Bondage Fruit, Pochakaite Malko) to French zeuhl (Magma and Eskaton are very good, but the rest is always a little disappointing, I don't really know why, it's too close to fusion jazz maybe).
Does anyone have something to say about them?

Neville Chamberlain

I love Ruins, too, and was lucky enough to see Sax Ruins in Berlin a few weeks back - here's a clip from that very gig: Sax Ruins in Berlin.

I thought this would be about Grouper who is also great

Ruins are great, yeah. The best bass/drums duo, and I mean that. Lightning Bolt wish they were as good as Ruins.

Eccentric Ditch
Hyderomastgronigem
Burning Stone
Stara Planina

Refusal Fossil is my favourite, mainly because of additional wild goose honking saxophone which is always welcome.

Johnny Yesno

Thanks for reminding me about Ruins. I must get round to checking out more of their stuff. I literally only know these:

Ruins - Skhanddraviza: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysCeaED_6Eg

Ruins - Bupphairodazz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIXMtQTe3Pg

Sax Ruins CZERUDMUNTZAIL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4nuwIvsDQI

The Sax Ruins track is a corker.

Agreed with the preference over the francophone stuff, came across this old Belgian band Present recently though - this is a great track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rq2PYJuCo0

Koenji had a new album out this year too - they have a genuinely unique, celestial sort of sound haven't they. You can find plenty of Ruins, Koenji, etc on Tatsuya Yoshida's bandcamp: https://magaibutsu.bandcamp.com/

Has anyone seen the RIO documentary in the Romantic Warriors series (or any of the others)? Apparently Ruins are featured, but what from what I can tell it looks a bit amateurish.

Sin Agog

Yeah, great band, though I'm not on the exact same page as you with the French stuff. I bet you're talking about Dun with the flutes and their xanaxed take on Magma, but that stuff scratches an itch, too. Also, Univers Zero are Belgian, but they made the most beautifully bleak chamber music in this vein. But I do love doing Ian Curtis epileptic fit dancing to yer Ruins and Koenjihyakkei so much.  You didn't mention Happy Family in your OP.  They're another brutal Japanese Zeuhl group who sounded like Canterbury Scene sped up by twenty.
