'What a trouper' as the expression goes. Always put in a solid performance and made everybody look good by being brilliant herself. She worked with most of the comedy greats going back decades looking over her life in pictures this morning. I wouldn't have been surprised to see a photo of June on stage with Dan Leno.  Makes me especially sad because she seemed so much like my mum, to look at and demeanor. Probably, a lot of mums of a certain generation. Rambling now.

This my favourite screen memory of her in an atypical role of being a battleaxe. Evelyn Blunt in Carry On Abroad (1972)

Evelyn Blunt : Not for me thank you.
Vic Flange : Oh. Don't drink?
Evelyn Blunt : No, I tried it once and didn't like it.
Vic Flange : Smoke?
Evelyn Blunt : I tried it once and didn't like it.
Vic Flange : Strange.
Evelyn Blunt : Not at all, my daughter is just the same.
Vic Flange : Your only child, I presume
!
