Well, that's shit news. Don't really feel like 76 is particularly old anymore, either.

lankyguy95

And we never got to find out where he got his ideas from.

RIP

Malcy

Nowhere Man

Custard

Fuck's sake

He was great. Funkhouser forever

up_the_hampipe

Mean Gene and Super Dave in one day. I'm done with 2019 already.

Twed

If he was really such a genius he would have remembered to stay alive.

Brundle-Fly

Sister Wendy, June and now, Bob. Well done Yuletide for this much-loved trio of death curveball.

R.I.P.

Oh no. Terrible news. The upcoming season of Curb will be bittersweet knowing he's gone.

jobotic

So he won't need his seat at the ball game?

Shame

BeardFaceMan

Which episode of Curb was it where he told Seinfeld a joke? That was fucking beautiful, it looked like genuine laughter from Seinfeld too which made it all the better.

S07E09. Here's the scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o5m_mXadoU

One of my favourite punchlines.

Glebe

I didn't know he was Albert Brooks' brother. Sad news in any case, RIP.

For some reason, Albert changed his surname.

Rolf Lundgren

Gutted by this. One of the funniest guys and best interviewees.

His appearances with Norm MacDonald were always great and it's hard to top his first appearance on the podcast but there's a great video of him chatting with Norm and Norm's brother where he lays into Norm's brother in that constantly pissed off way he acted.

The next minute of this clip is one of the reasons he's so great. Immediately switches from telling his story to yelling at the interviewer for a fairly innocuous comment:

That's fucking great.

"No that was a piece of comedy..."

Mobius

So sad about this. Love Curb, and he's been in it since the beginning. Such a funny bloke. Only a couple of years older than Larry ...

He had one of the funniest angry voices ever.

Chollis

Sad. Probably my favourite character in Curb, just had a big stupid grin on my face whenever he was on screen.

Twed

I haven't really watched Curb (I know) and this thread has introduced me to a very funny fucker who is dead.

He was just innately funny, a rare gift. As you say, he could elicit a warm grin merely by turning up in Curb.

Maurice Yeatman

First I saw of him was when Clive James had the occasional satellite link to him as Super Dave. Nothing on youtube that I can see from that, but I'm guessing that the stunts at the end of each interview were ones spliced in that had already been shown in the States.

I like this clip from a Curb cast Q&A where he seems to be getting bored with Cheryl Hines's yakking, and disrupts her flow to tell a joke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUQMYumUgYI

One of my favourite punchlines.

I read somewhere that he was simply told to tell a joke, making Larry and Jerry's reactions genuine. Also that this was one of the first times he'd met Jerry (which sounds less likely)

Bazooka

What a guy, he was funny as fuck, it was cancer I believe, his voice was gravelly as hell, funny funny man, didn't know he was that old.

Way to go, Einstein.

Sad news. Poor bloke doesn't have much luck, after relatively recently being orphaned!

Do we know if he'd had plastic surgery over the years? His face seemed to look slightly odd as Curb progressed, though I don't what he looked like as a younger man.

I'd say definitely. Based on his persona, though, I'm not convinced he didn't just do it for a laugh rather than vanity reasons.
