My recording stopped about halfway through the show for some reason.  Would you mind posting the full recording?

Did he play Lizzo ft. Missy Elliot on Monday?

EDIT: Just listened. Yeah, he did. His music taste often surprises me.

My recording failed again, so I don't have the full audio.  It happened at about the same point in the show, oddly.  I'm using streamWriter https://streamwriter.org/en/downloads/), which has been pretty reliable in the past, but who knows!

cakeinmilk

Weird - I'm using the exact same application!

Thanks for doing these, very much appreciated!

Thank you for these.
Loving it so far.

What a shout out!  Also, I am continuing my streak of failing to get a complete recording.  Do you mind posting the full recording again?  I will try something different for tomorrow's show and see if that does better.

Sure, here's the full minus the first song as I had to reboot (if you've got a partial record, might wanna crop and attach it on?): https://ufile.io/fn25y7de

Thank you for your service, cakeinmilk. A kind soul worthy of knighthood.

Does anyone want to start compiling a Drive of some kind again? If you're sitting on any tasty recordings, might be good to get those back up.

I don't know how the Drive system worked, but @PhyterJet shared quite a few files with me this week, which I just hosted here:

http://kitson.dx3x.com/

We are talking about making a proper web page there, but right now it's just a raw directory listing.  If anyone has files they would like to add, please let me know!  We opted not to include any of the official releases currently available on Bandcamp or Vimeo.

Oh excellent! That has practically everything that was on the old one. Thank you!

Thanks for this. Re-listening to The Impotent Fury Of The Privileged this afternoon has reminded me that it's one of his best shows.

Thank you so much for these, what an absolute hero.

Mr Faineant

Hasn't he specifically asked, on here, that we don't have such public compendiums? His wishes had been respected for a long time...perhaps this could be kept to the DMs?

That may be a good point.  I'm fairly new to this forum, and if I've overstepped by posting that link, I apologize.  I did track down the post I think you're referring to here: https://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=4378

I read that as "please don't circulate bootlegs where I say things I wouldn't want recorded and circulated," which is not really an indictment of sharing bootlegs in general (even somewhat publicly), but more about choosing which ones to share.

That said, I have only just gotten hold of these recordings, which I think many of you are familiar with already, and I haven't listened to them all yet.  So here I am, helping circulate them, without knowing their content or whether Kitson would rather they not be circulated!  Admittedly, I haven't got a leg to stand on there.  Our idea was to develop a little fan site, maybe with some custom "album art" for many of the recordings, and things of that sort.

But I will certainly defer to the group here.  What's the general opinion?  Should we keep such a site private?

up_the_hampipe

That's just a message to those who choose to record his shows. It's not doing harm being shared on here, they've been around for years and he has publicly shared many recordings since he posted that (including stuff he doesn't like now). Just don't put it on YouTube, he probably wouldn't want that level of attention. Don't get spooked.

cakeinmilk

Some of the recordings are relatively recent.

But this whole forum is publicly viewable and people have been notified of this site via Twitter etc for the radio shows. I think it's better to err on the side of caution and trade in secret. I don't know why the Google Drive was taken down but wouldn't be surprised if it was a copyright claim. In large unless it's the radio stuff Kitson and all comedians really work on the assumption they're not being recorded and generally feel freer to experiment.

Sebastian Cobb

These days, considering most mixing desks will dump to USB, it's probably safer to assume the sound man is recording on the sly.

I'll be taking the site offline.  I've had a very nice note from the man himself requesting we not do a fan site and that any bootleg sharing be done privately.  That's as official a word as I could hope for!

peanutbutter

Frankly there's a ton of Kitson out there now that's pretty easy to access. The Bandcamp stuff alone is probably enough for most people but beyond that Hull, It's the Fireworks Talking and a few others have been pretty easy to find for years and years.
It's a bit gatekeeperish seeing as I basically have all the stuff that's been shared just about anywhere but a one stop spot for everything does have potential implications, seeing the sheer volume of stuff that he has done and the generally high quality of it does have a risk of actually devaluing his future output a bit. The actual hunting down of them added a bit to the value for me, I can remember damn near forcing myself to listen to an especially shitty quality recording of Weltenschaunng around 2007 that I tracked down (iirc I saw it on his last.fm page and messaged the one listener begging for it) and taking the whole thing in, I still haven't gotten around to listen to some of the much crisper sounding more recent ones I got in one of these bulk uploads.

He must've done what? 15-20 shows of totally new content?

PhyterJet

Has there ever been a recording of Dan's 2017 show? bootleg or otherwise

That's fair enough, at least you got a personal correspondence out of it.

It was a nice idea, but I'm sure few of us are surprised that he didn't want you to do it.

Have you got your recordings sorted now, Jim?
