Yeah, it could have been Tim Roth's character from " Pulp Fiction ", for example.

89/90. there was a chart hit called the Beatles and the Stones.  Was it the Charlatans?

East 17, I think ( I dunno if You're joking or not. That song and group have already been mentioned in this thread, all Boo Radleys- like, though ).

Gregory Torso

*Waddles into thread like a big fatty sweaty cow and hurls this Half Japanese song at you like an incendiary device, screaming "NO MORE BEATLEMANIA!!!" then huffs away in a cloud of cauliflower farts*

Sun Kil Moon, from the beautiful 'Micheline':

'Micheline used to come to our house and knock on our door
My dad would answer and say, "What do you want girl?"
And she'd say, "Can I take a bath with Mark?"
My dad would say, "My son ain't here
Send her home and shut the door and we'd all laugh
And Micheline would walk down the street
Glowing and smiling like she just got Paul McCartney's autograph'

Regina Spektor, 'You don't have no doctor Robert
You don't have no uncle Albert,' from 'Edit'

And of course 'Black Beatles' by Rae Sremmurd, which McCartney has given his own nod to:

'I'm a fuckin black Beatle, cream seats in the Regal
Rockin John Lennon lenses like to see 'em spread eagle
[...]
I wear leather Gucci jackets like its still the 80's
I've been blowin' OG Kush, I feel a lil' sedated
I can't worry about a broke nigga or a hater
Black Beatle, bitch, me and Paul McCartney related'

Bowie's backing singers: "I head the news today, oh boy..."

The Glowing and smiling like she just got Paul McCartney's autograph line is also notable, as the only non-literal simile figurative language used throughout the whole of Mark's seminal Benji album.

I love the apparent simplicity and effective complexity of all those lyrics. For example I've furiously debated which scenario in each verse of Micheline evokes the saddest situation.

As someone who's reported on and been involved in criminal justice reform issues, I find the titular verse ending He's doing life in a Florida penitentiary with his father, both of them for murder to be the most depressing part of that brilliantly crafted song.

Florida is notorious for the poor quality, high volume production line, Gideon challenged justice, on offer in urban areas. A simple look at just the jails, overcrowded with technically innocent folks not afforded any speedy trial or any other justice - is enough to see what a mess reactionary cunts like recent governor Rick "I fund my political campaigns with the millions I dishonestly fleeced from taxpayers" Scott have continued to perpetuate - in flagrantly ignoring their judicial responsibilities!

I guess Mark Kozelek didn't have space to make that broader point on his otherwise impressive album.

Bad Religion's 'You' borrows the line "There's no time for fussing and fighting, my friend"

sevendaughters

I'm not talking about a Beatles song,
Written 100 years before I was born.
They're all talking about the 'round and 'round
But who's got the real anti-parent culture sound?

Nation of Ulysses, 'N-Sub Ulysses'

No Life in a Northern Town yet? "John F Kennedy... and the Beatles" *beatlemania scream*. Dave Gilmour's finest production gimmick!

Mentioned a few posts into the thread.

"Electric Guitars" by Prefab Sprout sort of references them.

I'd a dream that we were rock stars
And that flash bulbs popped the air
And girls fainted, every time we shook our hair.

We were songbirds, we were Greek Gods
We were singled out by fate
We were quoted out of context - it was great.

Grander than Castles, Cathedrals or stars
Electric Guitars !
Riots in airports - everywhere that we go
Mascara meltdown - hysteria-a-go-go
Electric Guitars !

Was just going to post that. There's also a yeah, yeah, yeah moment, plus Jojo.

Phil Cornwell as Slash, Hill, Hendrix, Townshend and Bolan in the video.

Crabwalk

There's 'Paul McCartney' by Scissor Sisters too.

A lovely 'Coming Up' vibe to it. 'I love your sound...'

SteveDave

Unlike Simon Price, the Manic Street Preachers laughed when Lennon got shot.

'King Rocker' by Generation X is about Billy Idol imagining John Lennon having some kind of boxing match with Elvis Presley. Idol keeps repeatedly mentioning King Kong as well but it's unclear how he's involved, presumably just as a spectator because he'd obviously leather the pair of them.

Glebe

The Beasties' 'The Sounds of Science' samples 'When I'm Sixty Four' and 'The End'.

I remember reading that Frank Black's 'Fu Manchu' supposedly concerns an imagined encounter between Lennon and David Bowie in the '60s or something.
