Is it time for another "Robocop 2 was actually pretty good" argument?

Sure.  Robocop 2 was actually pretty good.

Sure.  Robocop 2 was actually pretty good.

WHilst the originals a better film overall I do actually feel the sequel does the dark political satire more effectively to the degree it seems a little clunky there by comparison.

Yep, yep, yeppity, yep.

(that means that I agree by the way)

Like Escape From L.A. it's only with hindsight that we can appreciate how prescient it was.

It was better than the third one at least.

But it is a big fucking mess as well

Is it that big a mess? the hero/villain story is simple enough, I think the problem was that it was clearly intended to be a middle chapter to a story that was largely abandoned from it came to the plot with his wife and son and OCP.

I'm glad it exists for the brilliant montage scene of horiffic failed Robocops. I just don't remember anything else about the movie even though I've seen it at least twice.

Not at all, sorry! Maybe it's due for a rewatch, I clearly didn't pay much attention before. I remember more about Robocod.

I would definitely recommend a rewatch.  It's a decent flick and a worthwhile sequel.  It's not as good as the first film but it's very entertaining nonetheless.

I should hope so.  James Pond died and was wrapped in yesterday's newspaper for our sins.

Quote from: FerriswheelBueller on January 16, 2019, 04:41:08 PMI certainly hope not.

Never! Although geese certainly do challenge them for my affections.

Sorry, as you are.

If you put a dead Robocop and a dead Terminator on a shelf, which one would look the best after 200 years?

A Terminator looks like this after 30 years:

I'd rather not think about the 200 year model.

gatchamandave

Robocop has a PhD, has that been mentioned ?

mothman

Sorry, not true - RoboCop, M.D. never even got to pilot stage.

I wonder why that model had such wide top teeth.

Was it something about the T-850 numbering that meant the top teeth had to be an extra 50% wider?  Just perplexing, and that's before you even get to comparing a dead version of it on a shelf alongside a dead Robocop.

Only just seen this thread.

Robopcop is obviously better. It's a mad, funny, violent satire (And features Albert Rosenfeld and Leland Palmer.)

Terminator is just some James Cameron shite.

LanceUppercut

Both great films, but i think im in the Robocop camp.

Great quotes, best squad of baddies.

Robotic Bobby enforcement droid is excellent black satire, Terminating cyborg flesh fella is nightmare fuel. They are two very different films and not reasonably comparable. Like asking me to choose between my cock when it pleases me, and my anus after a very satisfying shit.

This.  It's like asking "which is better, 2001: A Space Odyssey or Star Wars?", simply because they both have spaceships in them.

But who would win in a fight out of Darth Vader and HAL 9000?

Darth Vader because he has a costume on.

Neither.  They'd settle their differences and have a lovely little tea party.
