I was recently watching the Les Dawson edition of 'Blankety Blank' that TV Cream linked to in one of their weekly mailouts. Fucking brilliant. Wogan played the conspiratorial role of someone who was hosting what he and the audience both knew was a low rent quiz show, Dawson played it as someone trapped hosting a low rent quiz show, his lugubrious verbosity at odds with that deliciously inane theme song and Lorraine Chase pretending to misunderstand. Towards the start he introduced Matthew Kelly as 'sort of like an enthusiastic mop'. Superb.
