She was cancelled many years back but she's repeatedly tried to uncancel herself.

she's still around, still working, still pulling high profile gigs. doesn't seem as if she has to try that hard

She's not remotely near where she was, but has connections that are willing to keep her afloat. But she's too toxic and too hated to get past a certain point.

I think we need to differentiate between a Twitter cancelling and a proper one. No-one gives a shit about Chris Rock getting called out by arseholes.

The Oscars producers do.

She's pretty much where she was, in that she is currently writing/running a HBO show. If that's what the bottom of the heap looks like, then I'd invite twitter to cancel me

Christopher Biggins

Biggins was cancelled for ten minutes in 2016 for saying something off colour on Big Brother and getting kicked out.

She's allowed to work, but she's not going to be at the level she was when Girls started. I thought cancellation was the internet deciding they're done with that person? If it's about losing everything, there's very few celebs that have been cancelled, outside of some actual rapists and whatnot.

It's not about losing everything, but there probably has to be some discernable impact for it to be a true #cancellation. otherwise it's just people talking online, which, contrary to popular belief, is pretty easy to ignore

Yes sir, I'm saying it has had some discernible impact, though. HBO are still letting her write some shit, she's still got some friends, but is she still relevant really? Barely. She's only noticed when she says something stupid. I think she's been pretty #cancelled. It could be worse, she's still got some delicious privilege working in her favour, but she falls into the category of this dumb phenomenon.

damn sir, epic win

she'll always be resuscitated solely in order to be cancelled again. because people love it, they love it

Oh for sure, the previous cancellations have done their damage though. She's been cancelled by so many cancellations, if that makes sense.

I don't know why I'm debating what is essentially a meme. It was invented by wannabe sassy twitter folks who use RuPaul's Drag Race GIFs and say things like "that's the tea".

That I did not know. Classic Biggins.

Either she's already been cancelled or she's uncancellable.

I think she's gotten away with saying a lot of mad or questionable stuff (including wishing she had an abortion which I thought was genuinely offensive and beyond the pale - how fucking dare she) as well as some racially tinged comments. That says to me she's been floating along on this woke persona but is actually not all that bright or thoughtful.

It's only a matter of time before people catch on, especially now her TV show is no longer on so she's not culturally relevant or a revenue driver for a big network so they aren't compelled to defend her.

Ripe to be #CANCELLED2019

I would argue most of these are uncancellable and/or already cancelled. Parry and Durham are definitely cancelled in my North Walian household and they only not more widely cancelled as no fucker cares.

Please not Cage though.

Piers Morgan shouldn't count as he spends all his time and energy trying to get cancelled to 'troll' the 'left'.

I think we need to establish some ground rules. The person to be cancelled needs to have some kind of 'woke' credibility and be found out as a massive hypocrite or something. So Rod Liddle defecating on a Holocaust memorial - not cancelled. Owen Jones using some slightly disablist terminology by accident and then apologising - #CANCELLED.

Actually Owen's done well not to get #CANCELLED this week for writing a Sun article years and years ago.

I don't understand people listing people who are already shits?

Serious nomination: Paul Gascoigne. He just pleaded not guilty to a sex assault on a train in county Durham and we'll see how it pans out.

Bill Murray

When his ex-wife accused him of substance abuse, adultery and domestic violence a few years ago, the press and public didn't really give a shit. The universally beloved Bill Murray? Surely not! Unless those allegations raise their head again, then he'll probably go to his grave a happily cancel-proof man.

CAREFUL NOW LEGAL NOTE: Murray was never actually charged with anything.
