I don't know how simps got into the vocabulary. I think podcasters met enough Warren people that were crypto-Sanders and thought calling them out would change them? Anyway Warren's base will become important again once she drops out.

Were simps not in a sci-fi book? I'm thinking Arthur C. Clarke or Asimov. They were chimps/apes bred to operate the mundane functions of the spacecraft.

Dog Botherer

intriguing how we've had a week of this pointless shit throwing just as Bernie takes the lead nationally and was pivoting to attack Biden on foreign policy. almost as if Warren/her staffers realized her path to victory was non-existent and that attacking Sanders would prove her loyalty to the machine and maybe get her a VP spot with Biden.

coward shit, really

Simp is a real word meaning silly or foolish person

Fuck, I really didn't want to believe Bernie was lying, but this is pretty damning/dispositive:

Before the expert even speaks Joy goes off on one about how Bernie moves a bit too Jew-ey for her liking

marquis_de_sad

I love how Joy inadvertently disproves the expert's theory that people truthfully denying something do so with a single word, despite her priming Joy how to respond beforehand.

Dewt

I didn't see this moment from the debate where Warren was even worse: https://twitter.com/CANCEL_SAM/status/1218540290224672769

One of the replies has a good interpretation:

"She is really terrible with her political instincts.  She missed the dunk and kept trying, wondering why no one was clapping for her big gotcha moment"

idunnosomename

i dont like warren at all but i think all of my american friends are gunning for her

Dewt

You must have a very select group of friends, as I have literally never met a Warren supporter.

Dog Botherer

yeah i've never encountered one either. i know more Mayo Pete supporters (1) than Warren Weebs. most everyone i know is either Trump or Bernie, or doesn't vote.

Simpites or anti-Semites?

Sanders and his campaign is in for a fight.

Dewt

My heart is warmed by the protesting of this American Psycho turd

He rarely appears without being put on the backfoot due to what he stands for

the Bernie Bro thing was so toxic last time round it put a lot of liberal women off him. but now I think he's the best candidate by far and running a great campaign. regardless everyone i know is happy to campaign for him if he wins the nomination.

after corbyn though im hardly optimistic it will turn out well

idunnosomename

can i put this here? I want to put this here. it's the most pathetic thing on the planet.

also im too fucking lazy to look up individual state law but in this country if the retailer can point to a genuine mistake in the pricing they dont have to sell you an expensive toothbrush for 1p

I think the Warren manoeuvre has broken a few of the Sanders pundit's brains. Will from Chapo talking about how it was a ploy to draw Sanders supporters. Nah it was to stop her supporters bolting to Sanders as the winning progressive ticket. Also the media coverage would draw negatively impact Sanders and make Warren look strong for undecided and weak lean voters.
Then Moore talking about a unity ticket. Yeah right. Like anybody would be prepared to trust Warren for 4 years. As a VP you could bring a woman who was a real POC bring in PMC and stick to a line like Harris. Just pure desperation when there's still time to see how things shake out.

What is the difference here? She's fine polling in fourth place, doesn't want to add any supporters?

Not sure if this is what you mean by draw Sanders supporters, but yes obviously it was a last ditch effort to try to do well in Iowa.

chveik

lol it's pretty much exactly the same thing.

Dog Botherer

the funny thing is the Sanders campaign was looking into whether Warren could be VP and treasury secretary at the same time. don't know how much chance there is of that now.

In Iowa, Warren is scared that she won't pass the first 15% threshold  and won't get any delegates while Sanders will. After the 'slack leak'  she was probably worried Sanders would draw her supporters from the start. Also after 15% threshold she probably doesn't want her support to go to Sanders and giving him a strong result. A bad loss in Iowa would impact her vote in NH and she could totally collapse.

Dog Botherer

i think it's far more likely than not that Warren gets ~12% in Iowa and that's her done.

Warren could make it if Klobuchar (~7%), Steyer etc decided to transfer their votes ('realignment') so she could make it past 15%. But that vote would split anyway. Klobuchar's base would be more likely to vote for Biden or Buttigieg unless girl power.

Also it seems they've changed the rules. In earlier years even if your candidate got over 15% you could change your vote in the 'second round.' That is no longer the case.

I live here, and while there are a few friends who are happy with Warren, most of them are Bernie supporters. But then, self-selecting group, as I've befriended loads of socialists since moving here and relatively few wankers.

Anecdotally, the only Warren supporters I know are people who were really into Clinton and seem to not be too concerned about actual policies other than having the first woman POTUS.

Funcrusher

Can anyone explain why Warren isn't totally cancelled? As far as I can understand she pretended to be Native American Rachel Dolezal blackface style to get ahead in her career.
