What the FUCK are you people talking about? Margaret Thatcher was worse than Trump...

Please could you clarify this? I'm not sure what you mean.

Cuellar

Even CAROL Thatcher was worse than Trump!!

I've no idea what I mean by this

My spidey senses tell me that Bernie will be in the race before the week is out. Enjoy the hysterical reactions from the brunch crew.

Klobuchar a totally hopeless candidate, serving only as an example of why the correct response to "Bernie isn't a Democrat" is "GOOD".

greenman

The ideal candidate would be a very large slice of moms apple pie kept eternally warm by some kind of heating from below.

Hundhoon

Kamala Harris is proving so unpopular among the African American community,  I don't even  think she will actually be around that long. google any of her interviews the amount of vitriol in the  comments is insane most people are insulted.

phantom_power

If nothing else it has made me aware of "hot sauce on greens" as a thing, of some description

According to the Washington Post he's joined the race today.

Bernie is in. Great news

He is going to get massacred by the Dem mainstream, they want Harris and Sanders with his solid base scares the fuck out of them. I genuinely believe that Biden does not want to run, but will be begged to if they worry that Harris is a bust. He is their plan b.

Amy main policy is "vote for me I am nice", not only is it a little bit flimsy, if the stories are true that she treats her staff like shit then ROFL.

Twed

Dare to hope. Or at least enjoy the colour that Bernie's run will turn centrist's faces.

phantom_power

Bernie may not be in with a chance of getting the Dem nod but he might be able to drag the discourse to the left a bit, which can only be a good thing

Twed

His presence in 2016 means that candidates like Kamala are forced to pretend to want things like Medicare For All. So yeah, if he can make that stuff stick even further it'll be great even he loses. I think we have a few more rides around the block until it's necessary for every Dem candidate to give full-throated support to left-wing ideas. By that time I hope there will be more decent challengers in the mainstream. Time for the old guard to move on.

Twed

Edit: Deleted some stuff about CNN's bias. It's not productive.

rjd2

resistance twitter more pissed of than Trumpers and other right wingers that Bernie is running. Scenes.

What an absolutely mind-blowing take. The primaries are going to be exhausting.

I was elated at this news not because I believe he can succeed, but merely a listing of the ship to the left would do in this portless storm

Fucking ada. He means stuff that Bernie has been going on about for his entire political career and Hillary used to pretend to be more left wing. All the Hillary lovers seem a lot more cultish (yes, cultish) than Bernie fans

Bernie telling it like it is on all fronts. Articulating all the issues perfectly.

Not difficult to see why the establishment are shitting themselves at the prospect of a Sanders presidency.

"For the many, not the few." Someone should steal that slogan.

Z

bunch of posts popping up on my facebook that're like "with the democrat party adopting Bernie Sanders 2016 policies, why is he running again?"
even if he doesn't get it, he's hopefully gonna force whoever does into making some pretty big concessions, hopefully.

AOC's heel turn is gonna come with her endoring Kamala, isn't it?

Squink

This is officially the Bernie Bros thread now isn't it? Every female candidate mercilessly sythed down. Even AOC catching heat for doing...something, it's not clear, but let's throw her on the fire while we're at it.

Mister Six

Bernie has pulled in more than $4 million in small donations on his first day, from 150,000 people - the average donation amount being $27 per person. Harris managed to haul in $1.5 million on her first day from 38,000 people ($395 per person).

Christ almighty, how the Dems manage to sustain their level of denial over what the people actually want is incredible.

Yeah Kamala is a posionous piece of shit, AOC is incredible and you are a useful tool for a group of people facing their own doom.

As people having been pointing out, imagine the media coverage of any other candidate who had fundraising like this on their first day and who also regularly polls as the first or second most popular candidate (including among non-white voters), versus the media coverage Sanders will be getting.

Mister Six

Can't see AOC backing anyone other than Bernie unless he withdraws. Even if she inexplicably preferred Harris for the job she's canny enough to know what that would do to her name.

Just did a quick search for "Bernie Sanders donations" and the top Google suggestions are Business Insider, Heavy, Newsweek and, er, Fox Business. And the latter two are from 10 hours ago, talking about him raising $1 million within hours, rather than the $4 million update, which the others did two hours ago.

Twed

Pretty sure AOC will endorse when it has the most impact, such as just before the NY primary.

Yes, and more importantly any other candidate would be covered as the overwhelming "frontrunner" for the next twelve months. Every story about Sanders will subtly hint at how he cannot win and is not a serious candidate.

rjd2

Bernie should not run as he will turn of the normal right wingers who we need is something I keep hearing today.

Their was plenty of crossover Trump/ Bernie supporters in 2016, why it would be any different this time round is a mystery. The idea that Harris, Booker and Gillibrand LOL would be a bigger draw to Trump voters is crazy.

Trump picked up plenty of Obama voters who were disillusioned with mainstream politics, those voters which Trump needs are very much in play for Bernie.

I know some will be terrified by the GOP machine who will scream Commie at him, but I don't think those tactics have the same impact they once did. Also when it comes to economics Trumpers can be relatively left wing!

The tax on billionaires that AOC proposed was popular with Republicans according to surveys and Carlson the most prominent voice on the right takes immense pleasure out of mocking both sides for their love of markets and corporate welfare something which as the Amazon shit show proved, the Dems are weak on.

Mister Six

Bernie had non-stop attacks from the GOP and mainstream Dems 24/7 and remains massively popular. He already unapologetically owned the "socialist" tag, and AOC has pushed that further into the mainstream. Their ammunition is spent on him, I think.
